First bloom of the year, a tussilago farfara, nothing much but, when it was 20 cm of snow here last weekend, its a welcome sight.

Where are you that your Rhodies are already opening up? Ours here are mostly on the cusp of blooming.

Beautiful!
CT. I don’t know we still have a lot on the cusp as well but a few early risers. The bees are loving the early ones. Or maybe they are on time I don’t know. We had buckets of rain lately don’t know if that plays a factor. My knowledge on these matters stops at “pretty”.

So it all got a bit Alfred Hitchcock on our last constitutional as three kites decided to ride the wind around us. Not sure if they were distracted by prey or a bit of mating malarkey was going on between them. I only had my phone so they did get low. Must take a telephoto next time. .

When it comes to most plants mine doesn't go a lot further. I have noticed, and I don't know if it is the same in your area, but the rhododendrons with white flowers are already fully open, the red ones are just starting to peek open (if at all).

Apparently the Rhododendron Garden in Seattle is in full bloom already though!

Phone only again on this week’s meandering but the eagle eyed (ok not an eagle) might spot a patient fisherman. Also the boys in blue had gone to ground and despite our proximity did not take flight. Not sure if this nearby feather was anything to do with their caution.

These little guys are kind of cute, if you can ignore the fact that they are incredibly invasive pests, and oh yeah, they carry bubonic plague. 😲
