will that also work with underwear and socks?

Yup, but avoid the ice cubes from the ice tray.

Where did you think the smell goes???

Been wearing mine for the past three decades with no issues and If I can't wear my vintage as intended then no point in having.... But hey, each to his own. Wear what you wear in good health.

Beware, I wore my 145 speedie on a nato strap for a few years and found the fabric weave had worn a neat set of grooves into the ring around the hippo. Just as @X350 XJR said it would...

Well, it depends on how much "the boys" sweat.
Re underwear, put them on straight from the freezer and see how "the boys" react. They might "chill" out.

The good thing about NATO straps is that if they are fabric, you can simply throw them in the washing machine when needed. I wear a watch playing tennis at least 6 hours a week on a NATO, and it gets washed and rotated with a few others regularly.

Tip for a strap that smells - place it in a plastic bag, and throw in the freezer for a week. Even smelly leather straps have come back smelling clean doing this in my experience.

Thanks for this. I no longer knew what else I could do to make the smell go away

Ozone also works. We have one of these. Now, it's more for use in car or smelly room or shed or WHY... But you could put the strap in your car when you use this...
I admit it's overkill, but man it removes odors like you wouldn't believe ::psy::

Jean Rousseau Paris. They're the OEM supplier to Omega for their leather and coated-nylon NATOs
