A Rolex Prince Observatory duo-dial Doctor's watch from circa 1933. I'm the second owner. Bought by my late father who was a watchmaker from 1920 to his death in 1976.

What a great thread. I'll have to practice my close up photography so I can get a coupe good photos of my watches' movements.

This is a shot of the fabulous Movado cal. 95M movement, which breaks with some traditions of chronograph watchmaking. For example, start/stop and reset buttons are reversed.

Enjoy,

Mick
Absolutely stunning !

FP Journe is the best

20160328_00124.jpg

Here is the back of a F. P. Journe Chronomètre Souverain showing the cal. 1304 movement made in Gold:

The ingenious construction of the movement does not only offer a visually pleasant view, …

20160328_00121.jpg

… it also demonstrates the master's sense of humor: although you can look deep into the movement, apparently just to the base plate, you cannot detect a mechanical connection between the power source (two barrels) and the escapement.

The face of this watch is shown in the WRUW thread.

Enjoy,

Mick

Hamilton 917. Simple 3 hand pocket watch movement, but I think still quite beautiful in its own right

This is a Gruen UV caliber 390. Each picture consists of 15 single shots stacked up to get the movement sharp from bottom to top.

Private label Swiss for Porte & Markle, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Circa 1909. Made by Electa, associated with Gallet. Those familiar with the scarce Hamilton 994 would consider this one to be a copy.

JLC cal 222 clock movement from a Model 356 Mantel Clock

A little bit grimy & doesn't keep the best time, but hoping a service & cleaning will set it on the right path.
