Nabbed the first Titanium Ultra Deep in the US

Got a call from my guy at the NYC Omega Boutique Friday morning, he knew I was deciding between the Steel/Orange UD and the Ti UD. They received the Ti one, but not the orange one, so I took it as a sign and paid for the Ti one. According to them this is the first and only Ti UD available for sale in the US.

I went in on Saturday to pick up the watch.
Greeted my awesome sales associate and he guided me to the back where I saw this nice spread:

Immediately unboxed, put on the watch, and took some potato pics:

Its is thiccc and I love it:

My tiny girlfriend also tried it

Took a better pic later at dinner:

I had a long day so better pictures had to wait. Someone on WUS asked me for comparison pics, so here is a copy/paste of my reply from there.

Found some time today to do some comparisons.
Omega Ultra Deep Ti: 45.5mm x 18.12mm
Omega PO Casamigos: 45.5mm x 17.6mm (same dimensions as any Deep Black PO GMT)
Omega Sedna Speedy: 42mm x 13.18mm (same dimensions as any 3861 Speedy)
Seiko SLA037: 39.9mm x 14.6mm

I picked these watches for a few reasons.
The Casamigos is the closest Omega watch in size that I own, and the general shape of modern POs is probably well known to people considering the UD.
The Speedy because everyone on this forum probably knows that one.
The SLA037 because its my smallest dive watch.

Pictures taken with a 50mm lens (Sony a7C and GM 50/1.2) to avoid as much distortion as I could.
Camera was mounted on a tripod, and I tried to place my arm in as close to the same position as possible for each shot.
Irrelevant to the physical size comparison, but I also kept the camera in Manual mode so all pictures are exposed the same way. Any post-processing adjustments were also synced between the pictures.

From biggest diameter to smallest:

From thickest to thinnest:

And since I was in disbelief about how light this watch felt (despite reviews also stating 123g):

Ditto.
It's an interesting reference to say the least.

That is a chunky piece of Ti. Nice and congrats.
Does it feel top heavy on the nato, despite the lightness of Ti?

Super, congratulations! Looks great on your wrist - thick of course, but that's the nature of the beast (your GF however looks like she might tip over when wearing it 😁). Definitely on my list (although list is much longer than wallet is thick, sadly). Really looking forward to seeing one IRL.

It is pretty scary to open a thread about a new Omega acquisition and it starts with "-got the call from.." 😁

Congrats on the amazing watch. I would consider putting it on a "No Pass" nato strap to reduce the thickness.

Congrats!! Wear it in good health. It is a beast, for sure. 👍

Meanwhile, I do believe that a few other OBs have received the Ti model as well… so I look forward to more incoming! 🍿
PS: that Sedna gold speedy = 🥰🥰🥰

Not at all actually, I haven't noticed any imbalance or discomfort as a result of it.
I am also used to wearing straps more than bracelets though, so maybe its more noticeable for someone who mostly wears bracelets.

Thanks! And yea we all had a good laugh in the store when my GF tried it on. She always tries to "steal" my watches and also insists that if I ever get the Snoopy, that it will be hers lol.

I actually bought a "G Series" strap from thewatchsteward.com ahead of time. Wore it today to the office. It does slim down the watch a bit and makes the whole package look more subtle (which is what I prefer for the office).

Haha, yea unfortunate reality of the watch world today 🙁
Pre-pandemic, I may not have felt as much of a "need" to buy immediately. Not that the OB pressured me in any way (they didn't), but knowing that this release has been delayed for so long already and that this is apparently the only one in the US, I didn't want to miss out on the "opportunity"

Congrats!! Wear it in good health. It is a beast, for sure. 👍

Yea I assume they manufacture and release these in batches, so some other boutique somewhere must have one. But maybe not in the US if what they told me was true.

That’s because no one can pull off a watch that doesn’t have has wearability as a design goal.

glad that OP is happy, but cmon

Actually, that strap looks even better than the OEM NATO. Thanks for the shop link, I will check it out

After a lifetime of practice dodging annoying pedestrians in NYC, doorjambs are not a concern 😁
I think the only time I smacked a watch against something was when i was going around a corner in the office. Luckily it was my GSotM so it came out unscathed.

Wearability was definitely a goal or else they would've just released the original Ultra Deep as is but sure, its likely a tertiary goal at most for this watch.

Its definitely too big for many people to wear at all. And for me I would never wear it with any outfit that isn't casual. Luckily I wear jeans and a t-shirt for work 90% of the time so this watch will get plenty of use.

That fairytale reference doesnt really apply here though, I don't think anyone is disillusioned about the massive size of this watch and how niche it is.

Its a good, plain, high quality strap. In a perfect world, Omega would have thought of a solution like this so we could have the full OEM look (brushed titanium hardware and matching blue accent) while avoiding the extra 2mm of thickness.

One thing to note though, I don't think this strap was intended to be worn this way. Its 29cm long (typical of most NATOs) so when looped the way I have it, it is just enough for my 7" wrist. Maybe a 7.25" wrist would fit. If you have a larger wrist, I'd email them and see if custom lengths can be made.
