·Here's another one to feed that nice thread
For various reasons, and although I can admire them from afar, I have never been especially drawn to chronographs and don't expect I ever will be. That said, if faced with a piece like this one, I think I would seriously reconsider/think twice. What a beauty. This piece alone might lead me to pick up the Sala book, if only to bring me up to rudimentary speed on the basic UG chronograph terminology! Having read enough of these posts, i certainly don't envy the UG chronograph collecter - I don't think I could ever make sense of the fine and seemingly endless subtleties and variations: Polerouter three handers drive me crazy enough!
As an aside, I am curious as to who the intended buyer was originally for these sorts of chronograph pieces. They don't strike me as especially populist. Perhaps this will be addressed in Sala. Thank you for sparking the appetite and thanks to all of you for the riveting examples. While I shall likely remain a chronograph stranger, I will always find the overall subject highly fascinating and will always read and learn with great interest. Thanks again and thank you for hearing my unsolicited confession.
