The Speedmaster has one of the easiest dials to read at a quick glance.
Try that quick glance with the Daytona and your in trouble.
Glad you enjoyed your time with the Speedy.
It sounds like the Speedy has won you over so go out and become a Speedmaster owner.

Ain't that the truth! I had to sell my Daytonas because, despite all that is wonderful about them, I could never tell what time it was without taking off my glasses, tilting it to get the light just right, and squinting.

Nice article.
Just on the manual winding thing, I'm not sure why so many people find it to be a big deal, or why a power indicator is in any way necessary? Just wind it fully every day before you put it on. Takes maybe half a minute if that. Job done, doesn't really require any more thought than that.
