I noticed an ad yesterday but thought it was just a glitch.
Didn't realise that a whole year had passed, but by the time I got around to re-subscribing, I had been "Gifted".

A big thanks to whoever the generous member is.

...this is the first ad that I get served.

Both me, and this empty packet of ginger biscuits are feeling very judged right now. 😁

Why do I need a scanner? I've got a belt to give me the bad news.

It's jarring when you check a thread while not logged in. I forget that the ads are there and suddenly there are all these pictures and wierd messages. Takes me a second to realize that other members aren't posting inappropriate pictures in their replies.

When the auto renewal email popped up it was also a surprise. Can't believe a year has gone by. Wonder what the next year will bring.

Anyone who is on the fence about paying a small token amount for ad free forum, it's a really nice option.

I spend countless hours modifying my firewall to thwart all the ads / pop-ups.... cant see the content thru the junk......
Buy a raspberry pi. Then configure it as a pihole.

it’s pretty trivial and affordable the settings hundreds of firewall rules. All you need to do is set your DNS server on your router and dhcp auto for your devices.

Trivial indeed! Don't know why everyone doesn't take this approach. 👍

p.s. no idea WTF you're talking about, but I do like pie.

Looks like I’m good until June. I turned off my ad blocker as when they started the paid thing I was watch hunting and thought perhaps the ads would be of benefit lead me to something good but that definitely was not the case. For some reason I thought all the ads would be watch related it was quite a surprise all the weird stuff that popped up.
