My small collection

Hi all,

I have always been meaning to post a 'My collection' thread ever since I joined OF in 2018. Better late than never.

I have learned a lot and my collection has been growing (and shrinking?) since then. Being in Canada is not ideal for buying watches and I had to hack together a solution to get access to the US eBay market.

Lately these pieces have been sitting tucked away as I almost always reach for my 145.022-68. 🙄
A pair of E853's, only a few case numbers apart. I have been obsessed with these alarm watches ever since I saw my local watchmaker wearing one in 2017. And a tear-drop LeCoultre cal 449, with a solid gold mid case, silver lugs. and a copper dial. These ones were bought off eBay.
A near NOS 168.017 with original bracelet (somewhere...). This one taught me a lot about what an "unpolished" case is. I definitely do not wear it as much as I should. The second one was an impulse 'buy it now' off eBay. I haven't opened the caseback yet; maybe someone can guess the reference 😀. The 2846 has been with me for many years. It was my only watch and I'd wear it daily to school, and again, I have not worn it much lately. These were also off bought off eBay.
A 166.038 Admiralty I got to tide me over until I found a few Speedmaster's I liked. The 145.022-69 was another watch to tide me over till I found a transitional (this is the slippery slope you all mention?). And finally a 145.022-68, purchased from @pdxleaf, which is currently my most worn.
I did recently find another 145.022-68 with bracelet that still has remnants of it's red factory sticker. As much as the condition is great, I prefer the midcase of the other -68 I have. This one was another eBay buy.

I was planning to stop collecting for a while, but in this market right now there is almost always something worth buying. ::facepalm1::
I am not sure how much longer my Speedmaster-mania will last, but I do feel less of an interest to collect dressier pieces. I also feel like a nice -68 could really be the best one-watch collection.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to OF, I definitely would still be wearing fashion watches if it weren't for this place.

Amrit

Simply outstanding! This is what collecting is all about.

I would classify my collecting style as un-disciplined, the opposite of what you demonstrate here.

Haha thank you! I spend most of my collecting time turning down and scrutinizing pieces.
Maybe takes the fun out of it...

Wow the C Shape Connie is absolutely fantastic … !
Thanks! I am a bit spoiled by its condition as I didn't pay very much for it.

Good Lord Almighty! I knew you had a discriminating eye but didn't realize how good. You could teach Omega's museum how to collect.

Hard to believe you got so many off ebay. So many of us gripe about ebay but these are incredible. Goes to show what good taste and patience will do.

The Seamaster and Connies are such great examples of the best of Omega. But that dash 68 is stunning! 🥰

You asked about ref guess of the cross hair Constellation - either 2652 if Caseback is screw down , if snap on then 2782.
Really nice collection congrats.

Haha you're too kind Dave!
My favourite in my collection is the -68 you sold me so I would trade them all for that.
An eBay addiction makes collecting somewhat easy. I've been sober for a while though 😀

Yeah a 2782 was what I was guessing when I quickly bought it.
I remember the seller accidentally uploaded a picture of himself eating a slice of pizza to the listing. Was disappointed the watch didn't come with a print out.
