My second Baume & Mercier chronograph entered the collection recently, this one a ~1940s (I think) Valjoux 22 powered two register chrono with a 36mm stainless steel case. It came with the original strap and hang tag (serial matches with case), and some remaining wax on the caseback. The dial has a couple scratches, so my hypothesis is that the crystal was replaced at some point, as according to my watchmaker the movement appeared to have been un-serviced.

The question I keep getting is - are you going to wear it? Well, yes, I am.. but pretty sparingly. After one day I already noticed a small peace of wax stuck to my arm. Question for the forum - any solutions I haven't thought of to preserve the wax..?

With my other B&M chrono, also Valjoux 22 powered in a ~35mm steel case.

You can buy those clear pvc plastic case-back covers if you really want to preserve the finish on the case back. The watch isn’t NOS so I’d remove the wax. Great looking piece.

Do you mean the clear stickers like the below? If so, I thought about that, but in my experience they tend to move around over time which with the adhesive would presumably take the wax right off?
