I would love to see a 3861 Speedmaster in two tone.
Steel and Moonshine.

My question is : ‘What Speedmaster could they make that I want that they have not already made’? There are so many variations out there, that as much as I love collecting, I can’t think of something I want that has not been done already, I’m fine to call it ‘lack of imagination’ and I’m happy to be given something to lust over…

They could do a steel with dark green dial, a knock off of the Gemini IV, but green.

I will need a 2020-29 era speedy for my Speedmaster Decades Collection. So far nothing has caught my eye. And it's not looking to encouraging at this point.

Black ceramic 42 mm Speedmaster,3861 movement with a ceramic bracelet and deployant clasp.

Quoted for truth. This would be it.

This is the sort of thing I'd love to see as well, just a couple of colour / dial variations of the standard moonwatch to choose from with minimal price or availability differentials.

To keep the collectors interested, an option could be to bring in new colour options on a time limited (not number limited) basis, like what Glashutte have been doing with their annual editions of their sixties watches?

What I would like is that white gold and platinum 321 at about 10k each (so 2 watches at 20k). I’m certain that’s a fair price and still profitable and I’ll even throw in a 1 hour head-and-back massage (to the top brass and their better halves) leaving them feeling 20 years younger if that would seal the deal…

As I'm almost completely detached from the finer nuances of the Moonwatch/Speedy obsession I can perhaps take a more dispassionate view. More coloured dials- reds, blues, greens, hell even yellows, Less of the ridiculously priced exotic metal combos with stratospheric prices, more steel cases with auto movements at less eye-watering price points. And if you really want to put the cat amongst the pigeons, use this as a basis and update it.

May not appeal to the "purists", but if the whole MoonSwatch saga has taught us anything, it's that there is a much wider potential customer base out there who may like a less "traditional" look.

It's a good start, no doubt.
But what I'm really looking for is the 3861 version of this.

Cheers,

50 years Apollo 11 ... about 75% of people don't see what the seconds subdial exactly is...
This image would have been a far better choice for the subdial:

Speedmaster Professional in stainless steel with 321 calibre. This would be awesome but it would also cannibalise the current model with the 3861 calibre. And that’s probably why it’s not gonna happen.

I think this is a very sensible watch to make for Omega. I don't think it would compete much with the 3861, for the same reasons the ed white doesn't compete with the 3861. Difference price point, many people just want a regular moon watch; 3861 is objectively a better movement.

Now that 2023 is almost complete we can agree it's been an underwhelming year for Speedmaster fans. People are now psyched up for some iteration with white-like dial as worn by DC. Oh, and let's not forget the rock 'em, sock 'em 100 piece edition with a wowser dial that was leaked by the dial maker recently to a brand new OF member. Pester your OB and get your name on the list!

Smaller Speedy on the cards I hear also.
Potentially a new FOIS or Reduced.
