    Hi Community:

I was playing with my James Bond SM 300 and base on the SN, it was born 1999/2000. Then i noticed IMG_4353.JPG IMG_4355.JPG something unusual. The case back does not have the "wave" part.Looks original from every angle but can someone walk me thru this? Case back looks like PO without PO. Is it possible that some 2531.80 late releases were installed with these case backs? Thanks

Thanks. I knew something is off when especially when I saw the "planet/globe". Well at least it is original Omega-schukadoodle. Just enjoy the watch Bubu!!!

According to some articles that I came across, SMP 2531.80 came about in 1993 with the 1109 movement and no chronometer on the dial. Then they replaced it with 1120 movement in 1996 and this time the dial has 4 lines/chronometer. Same reference no and same "wavy" caseback with the small hippocampus at the middle. This variance was produced until 2006 and the 2228.80 reference came about with a different caseback- with the a big hippocampus no wave. Judging by this timeline, my 1999 watch couldn't even be a "transition" piece. Maybe the caseback got replaced during service. In any IMO, this case back is so much better than the "wavy" one not the right period but still for an SMP nonetheless ( am I partial-of course I am-it is my watch). ;-). Thanks

The 25318000 never came with this, and since Omega has proper case backs for the watch, this wasn't done by them. It's been tinkered with by someone. Have you had the watch opened?

Given the case back oddity, I would want to get the rest checked out to make sure nothing else is amiss.

    Cheers, Al

Thanks Al. Can't open it as it is very tight and am avoiding scratches. I'll bring to a watchmaker coming week and see what is inside. Running like a chronometer though. Will let you know what is under the hood.
