Hi there, I'm a newbie in this wonderful forum and today I'd like to present you a watch for the first time, my latest acquisition, an Omega Genève directly from 1957 cal. 267 that literally stole my heart.
I am pleased to show it to you and I have also a question: what does the "staybrite" engraved inside the back mean?
Thanks a lot, cheers Alessandro

Welcome to the forum, and very nice patina on the watch!

Staybrite is a trade name for the type of stainless steel.

I love the way the patina has developed on your watch; just enough variation and texture to make the dial interesting.

Nice find, it'll look even better when paired with a nice strap. 👍

Speaking of straps for this watch, any suggestions? Thanks 😀

Well here we go. I am the new owner of this extreme patina Geneve. Even more lovely in the flesh. Thank you Alessandro! This watch is in good hands. I think I might pair it with a nice JPM green strap. Any other strap recommendations OF?

Its funny when I started out with vintage Omega I instinctively thought these Geneves (with the fancy script) were redials. Probably missed out on some great pieces. 🙁

My understanding is that these earlier Geneves were just a step below the flagship Constellations until 1968. They were just not chronometer certified. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

I have a gold one. Such a pretty dial. Mines from around 1960.
