You are to be congratulated on acquiring your grail. It certainly was a worthwhile pursuit as it looks very appealing.

I had to search for the GMT 6542 albino Pan Am in order to see one and learn about it.

What a beautiful watch. It's nice that you wear it
I imagine it cost the price of a small house, but it would be a shame for it to be locked away in a safe for investment purposes and not enjoyed.

Thanks. That for me is the fun part of vintage watch collecting, wearing and enjoying them to the max.

Ok...now that I've regained consciousness, may I ask if you are going to wear it? If so, I what circumstances? I would fully understand if it would be kept in a safe place but given the fragility of the bezel insert and the overall value of a piece like this....I'm curious.

Cheers,

You know that this watch is marred in controversy? Rolex never acknowledged producing such a dial and although many features point to authenticity, other features point to replica or non-original. Still a fascinating and mysterious watch....

And my apologies to the OP, I had no intent to hijack his post of his marvellous acquisition. Perhaps, continue the conversation on the Pan Am in a different post..

Cheers,

I don’t intend for my watches to be safe queens. This watch will be used occasionally like the rest in my collection.

No problem. I also heard of albino 1675 GMT’s given to Pan Am executives. Another mystery I suppose?

Well, Omega does not acknowledge speedmaster 105.003 with blue dial either but they do exist 😉

Beautiful watch and congrats. I remember reading about nice replica bezels being made for those so that they can be worn without worry while the original bezel can be kept safe.
I seem to recall @Dre got one?

You can find them on Ebay. Its a good idea if I decide to use the watch more often.
