Ive never known how much weight to give to Orchi's, lets face it, rants on IG. How is his word any better or worse than the other Rolex aficionados out there or people who claim to be aficionados ?

Ive seen major Rolex guys who are trusted all over the world swear something is correct yet Orchi swears its all wrong. To me a lot of the time its just a tit for tat argument as Orchi seems to have a huge chip on his shoulder.

The vintage Rolex world is a minefield for sure. All the OP can do is trust his "dealer" to buy supply something that is legit.

He use to post alot of good stuff about rolex on VRF but ever since a few years back he got banned and he became extremely angsty against rolex passion report etc and he blasts them all.

I stopped following orchi because of his rants tend to be quite childish and personal (really discredits him) but I have spoken to him via Ig dm and he has always been very kind to vet and offer his 2 cents worth on pieces.

Very knowledgeable and polite behind the scene/persona but on his ig, he's relentless.

Ah. Alrighty. Well, do we have some rolex experts here on OF? This is gonna be a really interesting thread...

He was the person who enumerated the various GMT dials (MK1....etc.) He's quite knowledgeable and knows the rarest Rolex dials known to mankind. Unfortunately, the guy has a woody for RPR which detracts from his larger contribution to the community. I have interacted with him in the past and has been very pleasant.

The OP also posted the same watch on TRF and received the forums adulation. I assume there are more Roles experts on TRF than OF.

I dont like the fact that Orchi gives personal information about the second buyer and we can read this. Unless it's some kind of Kim Jong-un this information could be deleted. We're talking about the watch right? Not the person...

Some of us restrain ourselves from making comments, that might question authenticity…as usually, there is not just quite enough definitive evidence to be 100% certain…before ‘pissing’ on someone elses Parade

Others let fly immediately…

I do know that 70- 80% of the vintage Rolex I have seen / handled recently, has questionable provenance, or has been ‘embellished’

I saw that and also my dealer and other well meaning collector friends.

From my dealer:

From a collector friend who compared my bezel from the photo in the Mondani book.

Another photo sent by a friend from the Goldberger book.

Likewise, my dealer has offered to take the watch to Rolex Geneva to settle the issue once and for all and if its proven otherwise, he will refund my money.

I’m a complete noob when it comes to old Rolex’es, so how many versions does exist of the bakelite bezel?

Just looking at the comparison posted above where the split point is different from OP’s watch.

Orchi is certainly knowledgeable about vintage Rolex. @erpin9 you may want to take up your dealer’s offer to have the watch evaluated in Geneva.
