The quality of the Italian leather is very worth the bump. The other stuff is crap in comparison.

Thanks @Winston_Smith! Sorry you weren't able to snag the watch. It definitely looked to be a solid project. Have you been chasing any others lately?

Hi! Yes, I did actually but they also went over the bar I'd set for myself. So I'm rather focussed on my pending projects, e.g. this one right here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/hidden-treasure-rectangular-gold-case-omega-ref-3977.125562

How did you decide to move on with your watch, eventually? As-is or some restauration on the way? 😀

Honestly, I finally finished some other projects and finally had a few spare $$ to put into these watches. Thankfully, there were in good condition other than the crystals -- one broken and the other had a thick poly one. Overall, I'm going to keep them just as they are. As @Marsimaxam said, the wabi sabi approach is a good one. Kind of like leaving classic survivor car just as you found it. They certainly won't be "daily drivers", but I'll pull them out and enjoy them on a regular basis.

hi there,

that’s a watch I purchased in the 90s at a village in rural India. It had no glas, no hands and was very dusty, dirty, parts missing and looking like not running for at least 50yrs.
I gave the clockwork to my watchmaker to restore, the case was restored, I had the tiny wire lugs changed to more modern ones and the case was Rhodium coated.
I gave it to my brother, when his son was born.
Any idea from which year this watch could be?

P.S. it is certainly not original any more, but it was in such a bad condition, so I gave it a (3rd, 4th or .... ) new life!

Hey guys, I have no knowledge about watches from this period so need little help from you. Tried to google number on the case and caseback but no luck. Any info would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Looks legit. From the mid 1920's. Hard to tell more about the case from here. Is it possible to have closer pics of the omega symbol and of the hallmarks? Caliber 26,5.

Cheers,
François

This is best I can do. Watch is not in my possession.
