Beeing a vintage watch guy and an Omega enthusiast I bought my first IWC, vintage ofcourse... cal. 89, ca. 1954 in nice condition:
Beside the watch itself the seller gave me this massiv 18mm buckle: For my taste this dressy watch should not be pared with a massive buckle like this, I just prefer classic 18 / 16mm straps combined with a slim sized buckle. So it should make sens to trade this one in for a "matching" one. But.... Iam not sure if this item is genuine, I fear it could be a fake. So IWC guys, is this buckle a fake item? best regards from Germany Timo
Funny how those who appreciate Omega also appreciate IWC. I like Cals 83, 88, 89 a lot, and the excellent cases some of them came in - and if I had just acquired your beautiful watch (love the pics, thanks!), I wouldn't even care about whether I could trade the buckle. Sorry I can't answer your question properly, but I do hope your lovely IWC is soon wearing something "appropriate". Main headline - nice watch, well done!
Beautiful watch! Love me my cal 89! I’m pretty sure that is a legit IWC buckle, though not 100%. As you said, either way it’s definitely not correct for your watch, which would have had the below buckle. They do come up for sale, I was able to acquire one from a forum member after posting a WTB. Good luck and enjoy that watch!
Thanks for your comments. Yes I like the watch very much, especially the beautyful dial. I bought it from another memeber in a German watch related forum. PS The Leicaflex SL is my favorite camera, it is still super smooth and extremly precise. best regards Timo
Fantastic Leica! (and the watch is also nice). No, seriously, your watch is great! (and your camera too). Congratulations!
