Thank you for the kind (and nearly instantaneous) replies. I feel like all the stars aligned on this adventure, from a work friend advising me to research further, the good fortune at finding William's site and his willingness to offer such good advice, to Simon's great work. Now I just have to get over my terror of wearing such a beautiful and valuable antique on my wrist!
Hey, I'm a 59 model too, I don't consider myself an antique!!! Beautiful watch BTW!!!!!

I am thinking my next step is to order an extract from Omega to complete the story.

Should you request it I鈥檒l put my money on Danish provenance, not sure my mind serves me right but i feel like most of the 2915s that came up in the recent past with an available extract were mentioning northern European countries

When I started to read the first few lines of your story there was a sinking feeling of the disaster to come of a complete Omega service of a 2915, but then thankfully the story took a great turn and the watch and its history was saved from the brink of disaster.

A beautiful watch and fantastic family history to go with it, a true heirloom. Congratulations on the watch and hopefully it will continue to lead an eventful life 馃憤

Awesome. My grandad left me an Accurist worth about 50p and my Dad only ever wore the cheapest Casio digital watch he could find lol.

Great looking watch.
The greatest part of your story is the fact you never wanted to sell the watch.
Money is not important as the fact it is your fathers watch.
Excellent.

Awesome story! Talk about building up the suspense, I didn鈥檛 know what the outcome was going to be. Was very relieved to see the serviced watch still in the family!

BTW My kids were interested in what I was reading - I showed them your pics before and after and I鈥檝e never heard them say WoW so loudly before!
