My daughter bought me a DIY watch repair kit... For my Dad's lovely old 321 Omega Speedmaster.

Well I've written a message of thanks to @Scarecrow Boat, but I will post it here because he's right on the money! Brilliant bit of geographical research. I wrote:

I was actually parked up in that road last summer, visiting relatives in Newquay. In the 1960's and 1970's my Aunt lived in a small house in Golf Terrace, Newquay, which is located just up from that beach that you have shown. If you check it on Google maps, you can see that you could easily walk to Golf Terrace from that spot that you've identified.


Fistral Beach is well known for surfing, and I know my Dad liked to watch the surfers riding in on those Atlantic rollers. I think that's exactly where he was sitting. I am certain that you have located that old photograph to within a few yards. Nice work!

Well I do appreciate your thoughts on it. You are quite right, It was for sale, but fortunately I'm now in a better place money wise and I intend to enjoy wearing it for a few more years. Maybe, one day, my grandson will take a keen interest in posh watches.
(He's more into, expensive, apple iphones right now...... £500! For a fakkinn mobile telephone!) 😡

Anyway....I've actually grown very fond of that bracelet. After all, it's been around for half a century. In fact, I think I would sell the watch before I parted with that bracelet mate! 😲

The reason that bracelet is on the watch, is because I broke the original one when I was a kid. My Dad must have got that 1171/633 fitted as a replacement. I suppose my clumsiness, does give me a bit of personal involvement in the history of that old Omega Speedmaster. I remember I was never allowed near the red Omega box afterward. I'm suprised I didn't get a kick up the arse for my contribution. 😁
