I think the current problems with my hip joints mean the end of my motorbike career. This Honda Seven Fifty will be my last bike.
Sorry to hear that @UWG. At 74 I feel very fortunate to still be using my bike as a daily and a long distance tourer, but know that aging will get me sooner or later.

Perhaps I shouldn't give up hope and look for a solution from a good, independent surgeon in my area. There are supposed to be good replacement parts now 馃槈.
I will see in the near future.

Nice! A few years ago I was at a Harley dealer in Oklahoma City, and they had an Evel Kineval paint job, I believe it was a Sportster 1200. It was a slick looking bike, and they wanted something like $5,000. I was sorely tempted by it.

1st August 1974.
Just over 拢200 it cost, 2 * petrol was 60odd pence a gallon and the bike did 160mpg.
Insurance was 拢12.
When I started work on the 20th of that month I was on 拢10-93/week and was earning too little to pay tax or national insurance 馃槙

I had to give up motorbikes in 2004 because of my hip.I could get the knackered one over the crossbar of my mountain bikes but not the good one.
Now I'm waiting for the call for my other hip, and knee to be done

Bummer 馃檨.

I've got crook knees, hips aren't too bad.
Graduated from an Africa Twin to this. Found it much easier on the joints and no loss of riding enjoyment.

Im 58 now and I think its too early to quit riding a bike.
It seems as if both hips need to be replaced gradually. Starting with the left. It probably runs in the family, father and brother were also affected.
But it鈥榮 no use, I am still positiv minded. And nevertheless I will have my watches and OF 馃憤

Hi guys,

1991 Harley Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Classic (Mint condition)

I am 60 years old and almost got killed a month ago when a women driver cut me off on the freeway (I was lucky enough to dodge the car without an accident). But I realized I did not want to spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair or dead... when I just retired in January.

So I parked the bike in the garage; no more riding for me.

I have to admit I am pretty picky in terms of detailing and conservation. 馃檮

I have a mechanical background and love to work on bikes and cars; in 2019 I built the ultimate fully equiped "Man Cave" 馃槑

I think we need more pictures please. It kind of reminds of the old xj series with the smaller faring.

Applogies, completely forgot to get back to you:

80s retro, really just missing the Marlboro stickers, will try to have some made soon. 3.5k km in and I鈥檓 very happy indeed.

Had a little extra time the other day so I went to an Indian demo event. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate for long so I only got to ride one bike: the Challenger Limited.

Power delivery was good, the transmission was nice. I found the bars a bit forward for my reach and the two-speaker audio system was paltry over 50 mph. Cruise control worked ok, but the engine surged a bit if you pulled the clutch in to cancel. Speaking of cancel, the self-cancel turn signals were not effective. I really wanted to try the FTR but, again, weather was an issue.

Now I'm drooling over the MV Augusta lineup and perhaps even a Moto Guzzi V7. Hoping to select an appropriate weekday commuter for next summer.

Suggestions??

If anybody wondered, I have owned a Sportster and a Dyna in the past. Looking for something a little different. Happy Monday, all!

Thanks, it "western bars", from the old Triumphs delivered to the west coast of the US in the 60's. I used to have them on my 1960 5TA Speed Twin, but I installed them on the Bonnie since I did not like the original bars.

I've always liked bars like these ; you have a lot more control of the bike.
I preferred the American version of the BSA Rocket 3 to the UK version, even though the latter had ray-gun bikes. The handle bars and curvy tank were much better.

Recently upgraded my 2017 Ducati Multistrada 1200s to a 2022 Ducati Multistrada V4s. A week after getting the bike, took it out for a 10 day, 3600 mile ride through the western USA. This is the best bike I've ever owned.
