I preferred the American version of the BSA Rocket 3 to the UK version, even though the latter had ray-gun bikes.
My riding buddy has a Rocket 3 in his stable of vintage motorcycles. His father, Don Brown was working for BSA and was responsible for its production (without the knowledge of BSA). There's a great back story to this historic motorcycle.
For years they were my dream bike even though BSA went bust before I got into bikes.
The American version looks more modern and less squat than the UK version.
A few years ago I saw for the 1st and only time, a Triumph Hurricane. The bloke had just finished it and taken it out for a spin, it was stunning. He only lived locally but I never saw it again.
Every so often I come across a bike for sale and I go why not? however right at the moment with cost of living crisis and uncertainty for the next upcoming year I suspect it will be a very regretful pass.
Well that and the fact that I haven't been on a Motorbike since about 1979-80 🤔.
Any-who came across this VTR1000F first then promptly found the Duc ST2 the next day, both at so so affordable (very low prices) and normally one would be enough but you could understand why you would want both, cant you?
Both super iconic 1000cc very analog sport tourer bikes that cemented the sport bike revolution.
I was at my local Triumph dealer ship and saw the new Speed 400. Single cylinder 400 DOHC with 40 hp and 37 Nm. Weights 170 kg and price about 5 k in $ and pounds. ABS and tracktion control included. Other than the gap between fender and back wheel and the tank graphic its a nice bike. Anyone here got one and can comment on this ride?
Just had an H-D Screamin’ Eagle Stage IV 131 kit [with an H-D Screamin’ Eagle high-flow exhaust] installed on my 2023 H-D Street Bob by the local H-D dealership…went from the stock 114ci [1868cc] to 131ci [2147cc]…big jump in TQ and HP…little bike, big motor…and when I retire in about four years, I think I’ll start my own stump pulling business [because I have boat loads of TQ]…
Too early for me to be thinking about motorcycles and you had to bring up this tread.😀 Temperature is about - 6 C and still snowy, but in a month I think the road should be clear. Here is a repost of my 09 Triumph Bonneville SE, from an earlier spring ride.
I hear ya…still snowy in Cincinnati, OH…pic below from a few minutes ago. My H-D Street Bob 131 and Honda Monkey got kicked out of the garage due to making room for Mrs. Mad Dog’s motorcycles [she owns four motorcycles…one H-D and three Hondas]…and I’m happy to report that my H-D is protected by an H-D brand all-weather cover and my Honda is protected by a Honda brand all-weather cover…
I have owned plenty of bikes - some might say too many but I don't know any of those people.
18 years ago I started www.dotheton.com - an online community for vintage motorcycle enthusiasts. Back in the heyday of the 2010's it was a pretty massive site. We participated in the Vintage Festival every October at Barber in Alabama.
If you look closely you can see my Seiko Pogue on my wrist riding my cafe racer in Alabama heading back to the hotel after a long day in the sun.
