its the 5513 submariner for me. The 5512's have enough attention as it is, and the 5513's are sometimes viewed as a less desirable version. 5513 gilt are simply stunning!

I seriously doubt that 5513s are underrated!

Modern 40mm Explorer II is under rated vs the other sports models. I still personally prefer the Omega GMT shown next to it below but there is no way the Exp II is only half the watch the Sub or Seadweller is.

Unfortunately it doesn't have the vintage beauty and character of any of the vintage Rolex presented here. it certainly is a beautiful watch but....

Cheers,

In my defence, it was 6am here when I posted the above pic. Not firing on all cylinders yet!

Definitely Datejusts, even up to the five-digit acrylic models. They have a beautiful, classic vintage feel, but not crazy small at 36mm. I especially love the 1600. Very nice examples can be had for under $3K ... for now. Here's my 1977 DJ.

Yes the 1600 I'd def the most desirable of the 1600/01/03 crowd. Iirc less than 10% of the DJs sold were 00's...

Reason: they never made it into the catalogues, so a lot of people have no idea DJs existed with smooth bezel...🤦

That was before the internet

Vintage Datejusts can be had for great prices in today's market relative to the 34mm Rolex variations (Airking, etc). Timeless design, and good dress size at 36mm. Of course I'm biased...

Also another reference that comes to mind is the 1680. They can be had for around 3k less than it's no date brother 5513.

I blame it on the autoconnect.

1665 great white for me. Everyone gets so caught up with double reds they forget a great white can be had at half the price and is just as hard to find.

The 1003 never seems to get mentioned. It's my only Rolex (inherited) and my go-to dress watch. Nothing fancy - no date, lume or even a textured bezel, and a touch on the small side for most modern tastes (around 34mm), but it does have a rather nice champagne sunburst dial 😀

It's really very beautiful and unlike modern Rolex watches. A joy to have such a marvel.
