Ultraman and '60s racing dial aren't really limited editions, they were options that were unpopular at the time and thus rare today

Let's stick with the Albino and Mitsukoshi.
I think another one to watch is the Marui Automatic, don't remember how many was produced for that one.

Shameless plug for the Tin Tin.

Ok ok, so it's not really a limited edition, and no one really knows how many were made.

More than 1, less than a million. 馃憤

There is difference between popularity and rarity. What is rare doesnt mean it is popular.

I guess the problem is that inherent in popularity is a high profile, which, in part, comes from being widely known. Unfortunately, rare watches might not be so well know. If they were, they might be more popular, albeit still largely unobtainable.

I think what he meant to say is that rarity does not imply value. Rolexes practically grow on trees and hold their value like crazy; it's nearly impossible to find a good early automatic Heuer Carrera and those trade for peanuts compared to their peers

@abrod520, I'm not sure that is what @OhMegaMan meant if that is who you are referring to. He made no mention of value, just rarity and popularity.

Mitsukoshi, Japan Racing, Apollo 11 35th, and Italian Albino are some of my favorite Speedmaster models. What does nerf the appeal of these models for me, though, is the ease with which somebody can replicate them by swapping dials and hands. I guess there's a positive side to this, too. If I owned one of the original 300 Mitsukoshi watches, I could keep it in the safe and wear an exact stunt double every day without much anxiety of loss or damage.

Well, haven't seen any pictures of these two in this thread yet, so thought I would oblige.

Both very nice, but that one with the orange and red trim (sorry, don't know which it is, I'm a noob) is gorgeous.

Most popular? Gemini 4 in my book. Best LE Speedmaster ever made is also Gemini 4. We can debate this. I will add if Omega had made the Speediorite with hesalite, then that would be the #1 LE speedmaster.
