Agree. The B stuff is a bit rough, you should try this instead...

Lavazza has never failed to disappoint me - I actually like coffee that's a bit rough but not burnt. It's rare to find

Meanwhile this is what we get at work. It's an environmental disaster and tastes like liquid cardboard.

At least it's not as bad as a Keurig

Gone green.

Anyone else roast?

Oh yeah - I used to in another life before marriage and kids. I've bought at least 10 original West Bend Poppery's when I would find them at thrift stores - I would sell them to other people for $20 a pop rather than trying to deal with Ebay. I highly suggest moving to the combination of a Stir-crazy with a turbo convection oven. You can roast almost a pound at a time.

I used to be SERIOUSLY into coffee - like I was a consumer member of the Specialty Coffee Association of America, I flew to Atlanta in 2004 to attend the yearly trade show/convention, I owned no less than 50 different devices that could be used to brew coffee, as well as 7 different espresso machines - Rancilio Silvia with PID temperature control, La Pavoni Professional, Expobar Office Control, etc. My espresso grinder weighed 36 pounds (La Cimbali Jr.).

These days it's way less complicated. I haven't made an espresso shot in probably 7 years ๐Ÿ™ and I buy almost all of my coffee at Trader Joe's and brew it in a Melitta Clarity, which is basically a Technivorm clone (gets to the right temp) but way cheaper when I bought it.

However, when in need of a real cuppaJoe, it's Dunkin' Donuts. What can I say? @Mad Dog is my hero! ๐Ÿ˜œ It's tough to beat one of their donuts made for dunking into their coffee. It is, after all, why they coined their name.

ps - Boston Creme is pretty damn good too.
Our masters team road race captain (and coach) only allows me to have one Dunkin' Donuts 'donut' per year.

He claims that they're not good for you.

Baa humbug.

So my WUS esque question for the coffee pro on the forum (and anyone else who would like to participate)

Who has the best coffee(and worst) coffee:
Starbucks
Tim Hortons
Dunkin Donuts
?

As for me I drink almost whatever coffee is around as long as it's not from the hospital EMS rooms. For some reason that is always the worst coffee. Tastes like a combination of dirt and smelly patients.

At a Costco Wholesale the stuff arrives on palettes. The sight is enough to make any coffee addict swoon.

ed36d1316083568bca160076e6494944.jpg Counter Culture was my go-to for a few years, but buying 12 Oz bags of beans was not very economical. Tried a few other places and now rely on Ceremony Roasters out of Annapolis, MD.

I tried that Mayorga and found it ~meh.

I buy my work coffee at Costco and use their grinder. It's an awful experience from start to finish, but I've hacked it into a workable-enough system. I'm looking forward to starting the Sumatran I bought Saturday tomorrow morning.

Sometimes the barista of a loud mad coffee house during rush hour can be forgiven for mis-hearing your name & mis-spelling it on the coffee cup.....

The reason I always use my favorite pseudonym, Tony - and they rarely screw it ๐Ÿ˜

I've been drinking those chilled Starbuck's frappa-cappa-Al-pacino things lately. The vanilla and mocha are pretty damn tasty. Not being a big coffee drinker, these hit the spot once or twice a week

Morning coffee chez nous is a special ritual. We spurn those blingy expensive machines that need a Chernobyl-style cleanup after every use. This is back-to-the-roots no-frills coffee brewing, where the slightest miscalculation could mean disaster. Get it right and you know you've earned it.

First choose your high quality coffee. (@FullyWound should look away now...)

All set for zero hour. Tea lights at the ready in coffee stand.

And there we are. A damn good civilised cup of coffee without the hairs on, thank you!

Here's our setup. Unabashed coffee snob. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Being the handyman type, I added a few gadgets: flow restrictors, pressure relief valve, etc. Tried Costco's Mayorga, Lavazza, and a few local roasters. My wife has been a dedicated coffee drinker for decades. I started only a year ago of a daily dose of macchiato or cappuccino*. The nice latte art the professional baristas achieve remains elusive to me, not for lack of trying...

* which curiously coincides with my interest in collecting vintage watches (Is there a causal link?)

DD used to have decent food when they made it in each store. Once the venture capitalists got to them in the mid-90s, they switched to a central commissary system and quality plummeted.

Herewith I present to you what donuts should be courtesy of a local bakery. I bring them in to my office on my birthday for my colleagues to enjoy.

We hit 'Detroit Rock City' last week during our rotation...unfortunately, I had to venture to 'The Dark Side' and get Starbucks since there was no Dunkin' at the airport...but as my dad used to say..."It's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!"

It does give you an air of sophistication!! ๐Ÿ˜Ž
