Very under appreciated reference, IMO.

Because of the newer, auto moonphase Speedmaster, I am doubtful of the return of the 1866.

I have emailed Omega a few times to try and get production quantity on 3576.50 and 3876.50.31 and have never gotten a reply.

I have seen serial numbers as high as 778x....
This is so beautiful.

Hi Andreas,

You might still get lucky calling up different Omega Boutiques or ADs. I remember that Bern (CH) had one still in stock in 2019. I refused back then, maybe a mistake.

Money wise it should not be a big difference new vs. second hand nowadays.

Good luck with the search!

I doubt you will find any new 1866 driven Speedmasters in AD or OB stock at this point, but you never know. Anyone interested in one of these models, which were made in various versions over the years, will probably have to go to the used market. Interestingly there is a BNIB Aventurine model available on C24, it's been there for quite awhile, but pricey at $18,777.
Omega New 31130443201001 SPEEDMASTER Moonwatch Aventurine... for $18,777 for sale from a Trusted Seller on Chrono24

The 1866 models never seemed to catch on with the collector community for some reason. That was too bad because they were a full fledged Speedmaster with an interesting addition of date and moonphase.

I have a modded 3575.20 from around 2004 with a creme dial.

Exactly. A date function. Which I miss on mine.

Interesting, looks good. This was the one that originally came with the all-steel (or white gold?) bezel, correct?
And you swapped bezel + hands?

Just a rumour that I picked up at my OB: there might be coming something new with a moon phase this year. Again - really a rumor and he was wrong quite a few times with predictions. But it would kind of make sense to re-add a moonphase model in 42mm?

That's correct.....it originally came with white gold bezel and blue Broad Arrow/Alpha hands, now with blue Gemini IV bezel, blue baton hands (from the white gold case version) and a sapphire back. Gives it a fresher look. I believe the steel/white gold bezels look better on straight lug models since that is where it originated.

One of my issues with that model is having a manual wind watch with a date. I've always been against dates with manual wind watches with the exception of perpetual calendar chronographs (something I'll never own).

It's easy to reset the date and moon, takes less than 60 seconds with a toothpick using the two pushers in the case situated side-by-side at the 10 o'clock position.

This all makes a lot of sense, like a best-off combination (wonderful bezel, great hands - they are beautiful IRL, I know them from the original watch they came from). Have you ever thought about putting it on a strap similar to the one from Snoopy 3?

Yes, and I just don't care for the blue Snoopy strap, there is something about the material and/or color that is wrong, imo. I think it is the wrong strap for the Snoopy 3 as well and was probably done for cost reasons.

I agree with that. Also can't stand it on mine, way too stiff. However, there is a very similar strap, originally intended for a Seamaster I believe, which is equal to the Snoopy 2 strap in quality and appearance, just in blue. that one works well on my Gemini IV at least and I think could also work for you. Only issue is that I have no Idea about the reference, if you're interested I will check it out next time I am in the bank vault.

Maybe a new 42mm with metas mvt hesalite and vintage style dial? Would be rather nice

I would celebrate them for incorporating some Aventurine in the dial and bringing back a moon with a face 😉

Hi,
I am a watch enthusiast from the Hamburg Area in Germany.
After the last 20 years i had many watches from Rolex and from Omega.
Some of them twice, so many of you will understand that.
My own rule is having max 2 watches at same time, thats why i sell one watch if i get in love to another one.

just now i felt i love with the Aventurine Dial from this watch
311.33.44.32.01.001
and i own the 3576500. ( of course the second time )

the moonwatch withe the aventurine dial is very hard to find here in Europe.

has somebody any idea for me?

I too love the moon-phase series. For some time I was playing around with the idea of the Master Chronometer ones- The detail of the moonphase is just stunning and they do come in some nice colours- However the 3576500 looks more toned down in appearance and feels more classic, so it's nice to see you've got one as part of your collection.

In regards to the Aventurine dial, they do appear on sale but as pre-owned- Some worthwhile comments from fellow OF advised to pay attention to the dial as they are very sensitive and prone to crack- I've been fortunate to source a pre-owned one a few months ago (though still waiting for it to arrive). Your best bet is to keep searching various forums- Chrono24 have some listed but they come with a huge price tag!
