Moonwatch Purchase Dilemma

Good evening everyone.

So I have recently decided to purchase a new Moonwatch, specifically reference no. 311.30.42.30.01.005.

Given my rural location, I had to call a number of ADs (anywhere from 7-8). Many had this reference but no ADs were inclined to offer a discount, as this model was to be/is discontinued. Finally, I got in touch with an AD who offered me the piece with a 13% discount. Again, because I could not personally attend the store I paid via credit card over the phone. The dealer emailed me s copy of the receipt, which indicated a purchase of reference no. 311.33.42.30.01.001. I contacted the dealer about this discrepancy. They indicated that I would be receiving the .001 reference with the bracelet from a.005.

I am a bit wary of the situation here. Obviously it would be my preference to simply receive the .005, but I am not sure if this is possible. I will contact AD again to enquire.

However, if unable to obtain the .005, I am seeking your opinion. In light of the fact I am unable to locate the .005 elsewhere with a discount, should I simpy accept the .001 with the .005 bracelet on it?

Your anticipated responses are appreciated.

The spring bars might be of slightly different length and I would ask for the correct pair.

Personally, I'd like to get the warranty and pictogram card that showed the correct reference number for a new watch, but with a discontinued model this will be harder and harder. Consider your 13% discount the price paid for getting a watch with a mismatched reference number.

These were my thoughts. I was assured the warranty etc. would be unaffected, granted it would reflect the .001 model. Presumably any manufacturer’s defects related to the bracelet would be precluded from coverage; granted this does not seem like a particularly significant concern. The discount seems hard to pass up, however.

As long as the watch case and the warranty serial number match, I wouldn't worry.
One could have bought the .001 initially and at a later stage bought the bracelet.
Or bought both strap and bracelet at one go.

Appreciate your reply. Thank you.

It just seemed odd insofar as it coming from an AD and its thus intended to be BNIB. Perhaps I’m overthinking.

Yup. Only panic after you receive it... if necessary.

im confident you can resolve and handle it (with advices of the OF experts) in case of any issue or mistake from your AD considering you are a lawyer yourself. 😁😉

I don’t see an issue. No one cares about the bracelet vs strap part of the reference.

I doubt in 10-20-50 years anyone will care. Not on these models.

Well, in ten or maybe twenty, I'd still like to care and enjoy this model. In fifty, I would hope that someone in the family does.

The watch yes. The reference of bracelet vs no bracelet... no one will care.

Do you have the right of return in your jurisdiction ?
Yes, fortunately I would be able to return if required.

I don’t want to play that card but I will if I have to 😉

Maybe ask for them to include the strap too, then you have a full set matching the reference and it’s just like you bought the bracelet afterward. Not a big deal in my opinion.

I like your thinking. I had contemplated this, but was unsure if they would simply include it, as the strap is worth a few hundred. As the saying goes,’you don’t ask, you don’t get.’ I think I’ll follow your advice.

So, I attempted to have them toss in the leather strap; they weren’t having any of it, hah. I expected that, admittedly. In light of the discount, given that I couldn’t find one elsewhere, I gave the go-head on the transaction. Believe it will be shipped out tomorrow.

I will post a few pics after I receive it.

Appreciate your feedback guys.
