but a bulk purchase might warrant a discount???

Probably not, 400 pages of colour photos in a small production book isn't cheap

Group buy I think he meant volume purchase discount, rather than a book shared around 😉

Running a FS forum is hard enough, being an international librarian would be a nightmare lol
I think he was on a roll.

I think we should pay full price for this one as a way to support more books like these being written. It sounds like it is a serious book for the serious speedmaster enthusiast/collector and IMO is well worth the expense.

Fully agree despite the equitable distribution scheme Steve has proposed

Look at it this way.
If 20 board members go out and buy full price-
But if 120 get sucked into a group buy Deal.-
Thats a lot more books sold and a lot more money
in the authors pocket.

Weird, huh? Keep in mind I didn't actually say I'd buy a Speedmaster....

Hi Greg, sounds like a profound work 👍
Would you mind to post 2 or 3 representative pages giving an impression on layout, quality of pics etc.
I hope, other than in isnardis book, the pics of the 2915 are taken from one with correct dial, hands and bezel 😜

I am a newbie in Speedy pro collection, and most of my collection are modern.

Still, I am tempting to indulge on this one, knowing I will go into vintage speedy pre-69 eventually.

A forum group buy is a novel idea.

Hi,

We'll see what we can do. Page layout has not been done, we are about 7 months before publication, still a lot of things to verify. Yes we will have a correct 2915-1

Hi Greg - yes, please. Make sure that the examples photographed are 100% correct, especially the dot-over 90 and BASE 1000 bezels. The very fundamental unmet that your book will get right is that as of today, even many of the examples present in the Omega museum are wrong. For example, parts are replaced with cosmetically different new production items (bezels, crowns, pushers, hands) which result in a "renovated" example being shown, rather than one in its original configuration.

One thing that would be fascinating to see is variants amongst references that were not necessarily configuration-controlled by Omega. For example, cases, casebacks, and bezels were sourced from multiple vendors and used in some cases on the same reference; it would be great to see any differences between these, and know that they're correct (or not).

Hi Greg - question: if we order now, are we billed now, or when the book ships?

A forum large group order would be wonderful as well - and further motivation to order early.

cheers,
Mark

Hi Mark,

You would be charged now. That's also why there is a 30 Euros discount

Hmmm, base 1000 bezels are one of the most complicate part, because there are a lot of fakes and new parts that were artificially aged. Of course, we list all parts that we think are correct. Regarding models, it is sometimes difficult to get examples with ALL parts totally original, but most of the time it is. Do not forget that we would avoid to used pictures from other people (with their agreement) or from Omega collection. We wanted to have our own pictures for as many watches as possible.

On this topic, we are searching an owner of a very limited (40 pieces) Edition for Japanese market in 1997, BA 145.0122 - PIC 3690.30. It seems that even Omega does not have pictures. I assume that most of them are still in Japan.

Interesting! I'd like to learn more about this!
Actually I personally know only from a very small amount of black CK2998 BASE 1000 bezels being aftermarket and I think they should be recognizeable. Beside that all bezels I have seen belongs to a series A or B (We discussed that in another thread). If there was an aftermarket product those items would come up more often than they actually do?! Maybe you have a pic of such a bezel which is - in your eyes - definitly aftermarket with artificially aging?? I would be really interested in learning something about that!
