Moonwatch finishing, is this acceptable?

Hi all, I bought a 3861 moonwatch yesterday. I've noticed the finishing on the chrono hand isn't great, see photo.
Are imperfections like this to be expected or is this a quality control issue?
Thoughts welcome, thank you!!

I suppose it could be deemed to be within normal tolerance, even if it is at the wrong end of the spectrum.
Two things to consider.
First, is that it doesn't negatively affect functionality.
Second, is it seems to be potentially visible to the naked eye which puts it into the territory that's best handled by a warranty claim. Especially as the new reference is priced at a significant premium over the old reference.
Alternately one could simply sound out the dealer and see what they think. After all they're the ones who will facilitate the corrective action.

Personally, I would pursue a replacement hand as it's quite an easy fix👍

I would also try with a warranty claim, I think it should be covered and not that a big issue to replace the hand.

Just out of curiosity as your pictures are not clear enough - is that some kind of bump under the paint? or is it more like something attached to the hand over the paint?

Leave it alone, it can always come back worse. Replace at service time.

Yes, that's another option but it's going to be a little more difficult to go that route unless the dealer is on board to help advocate years down the track
That's why I suggested contacting the dealer with a view to having it simply changed under warranty.
Any competent technician can do it.
I know the guys at my local boutique could handle it without issue👍

Is it visible under normal light with your eyeballs? Or just under magnification? Lots of imperfections can be seen with a loupe. I would leave it alone, anytime you open the watch you run the risk of introducing dust and other junk. It could come back with other issues.

It's visible with normal light from the side, noticed it sitting beside a window... though it's not generally visible.
I think the ideal would be a replacement watch considering I bought it new yesterday but I can see why the shop would rather not do that.
I'd prefer it wasn't opened prematurely but at least it'd be under warranty if that's what happens, either now or in 4 years time

Don’t see why you would need to have a dealer advocate to have it changed during a service. Omega will change hands and bezels with no complaint if they believe they are not pristine (or if you ask them to be replaced). You just have to pay a little extra for the parts.

If visible under good lighting with the naked eye get it sorted under warranty. If purchased from an authorised source you will have no issue if taken to the boutique. Be advised if it is a minor issue wait till service, learn from my issues. I had a manual winding issue that has just been serviced under warranty. The boutique handed the watch back to me wrapped with a big visible scratch on the lug. Great customer service though they ordered a new case and will fit for free.

I was coming at it from the perspective of the OP.
If it's wholly accepted by the dealer that it is a quality issue and the OP opts to wait until service time, there is less likelihood of the OP being charged for the replacement.
In the unfortunate circumstance where the dealer may be required to advocate for the OP, it will help if they're onboard right from the start.
Maybe Omega will just do it as a small matter of goodwill when the time comes regardless?

If it is unacceptable, go back to your dealer & ask for warranty work. I had to do that with my brand new SMP due to the bracelet not sitting flush with the case & also a misaligned bezel. I was without the watch for a few weeks, but they had zero issues & apologized.

Best go direct to boutique no point going to middleman.

We don't even know where the OP is, or where they bought the watch, so suggesting remedial action is guesswork at the moment.

If you bought it yesterday, return and get another one. Don‘t mess about with repair, will only make things worse in my experience.

Omega in Brisbane were excellent this morning.
They replaced the watch without any hesitation, sized the new one and had me back on my way in 15mins.
Under a magnifying glass it looks like there was something on top of the hand.

Thank you all for your replies
