Missing the White watch in my collection

This one is 5x the price of a GS or Omega and with no Zaratsu polish or the amazing seamaster waves, value for money the worst choice for me for you it made sense then now its dumb at todays prices

The fact I am rebuying an Omega or GS after trying the Sub says how much respect i have for the former 2 brands.

Very nice collection here well done,
Yeh I do think any white faced grand seiko will be more subtle compared to a speedy or a diver, just by design. My snowflake was so subtle no everyday person or relative i talked to about ever appreciated its worth or workmanship etc...

What makes me hesitant towards a GS is my hesitation wearing my aqua terra and any simple 3 hander I am more of a sport or dive watch guy in wearability.

So this gives the white speedy or seamaster some edge.

I’d go with the seamaster 1948 first if you find one at a reasonable price, otherwise the GS
For the simple reason you have 2 divers already, but only one simple 3-hands (the AT; and it is a beauty!)

I had a Rolex OP 39 but had to go for a PO diver. The orange bezel makes up for the boring black divers it rotates with.

Have you seen the GS SBGE285? I have a feeling that it's close enough to white and it is so nice.

Some alternatives for you

or if you want to keep costs low but bang for buck high try the new Christopher Ward C65 Aquitaine range. They have finally removed the name from the dial (the biggest complaint previously) leaving a relatively sterile but attractive dial that fits somewhere between Rolex and Omega visually. It also has one of the best ratcheting, micro-adjust bracelet clasps. I personally have had two C65 GMTs, the first of which I gave to my father as a birthday present, so I can attest to the quality and thinness of the GMT version.

My C65s for reference

Love the Snoopy and that looks like a Rolex Explorer 40mm which is nice too. Too bad it's discontinued.

If your budget is big enough you can go with the Snoopy2 as well ... great "white - black" composition and
you can be sure that you will not loose any money on that in the future... (I was lucky enough to get it from
my AD new at listprice -discount)

May I ask what year was back then? Just curious how long some ads had them?!

The Grand Seiko gets my vote. Any Rolex, however nice they are, have reached stratospheric prices that make them unpalatable. The GS strikes a nice balance between elegance and functionality. And from the ones I’ve seen in person, the general quality, fit and finish are exemplary. Oh.. and they look great!

This is the only truly white dial watch I own and its one of my favourites. Certainly not for everyone I get that but I find it beautiful. Its a white enamel dial.

This one is pretty close to white too and another favourite - but this is more silvery in direct sun

I do own the 1948 Seamaster posted earlier, and that is spectacular and a much cleaner look with beautiful case design but the dial is definitely silver.

If you want to stay away from dress and Chronograph watches, the new SM 300m (id pick it on rubber) and the Tudor black bay Chronograph in white are both real contenders. I love the Tudor chrono by I bought it in black.

Your CK2998 is a great watch as well!

Myself, I am longing for a white/whiteish/cream coloured dial of a Speedmaster, but if I can weigh in a little bit - I can honestly recommend the dressy LE Seamaster 1948 which looks great and which is still available at retail as far as I am aware. It was indeed already posted earlier. And here's mine:

Guys,
I want to first thank everyone for being interested and giving so much advise.
I must admit the Seamaster 1948 amazing, too mature and reserved for my taste.
On the other hand the Speedmaster white, what can I say I simply love the classic hesalite standard stock black and will never change it so it's out too.

Since the last post, I visited Grand Seiko boutique in Sydney twice.
Also one member kindly showed me his polar explorer, amazing, its somehow more boring than the seamaster 300 white I had, but more reserved, almost as sporty, and more classy/dressy.... if you know what I mean.

My current 4 I am considering, none of them Omega, but hey I am consolidating my collection into 6 fine watches, and 50%/3 will remain Omegas! So I am loyal enough 😀

Here are my current choices, in AUD $:

4000-5000 $ Category: (used but very clean)

1) SBGA373, 44GS, Spring Drive, very nice shimmering Champagne dial (have photos see attached from the boutique)

2) SBGM221, unfortunately not in boutique today, but took a photo of a similar dial colour, plain ivory, apparently this is a very popular watch amongst GS.

Then if I go the $10,000 and yes that a big jump, I know, I have two options:

1) SBGM235. Limited to 1000 copies. US only edition I was advised in Sydney GS boutique today.
2) Rolex Polar explorer

I am leaning towards one of the cheaper two options. But thought I update all you 😀

Once again thank you!
