Hi all, very interesting thread. I am completely new to the form and would like some advice. The SM I have here does not possess the fixed bars but everything else seems to correspond as in the serials number inside etc. Also need to have the hands restored/replaced. Any advice would be welcomed, thanks.

MoD engraving on the caseback looks authentic for a late 70ies Mil SM300. As already mentioned, dial is refinished and unfortunately missing the circled T.

Can you remove the bracelet (what is totally wrong anyway and should not be on this watch) and take a picture of the spring bar holes at the inner side of the case lugs? It should be easy to see if the fixed bars are cut off and new holes are drilled or if it's a regular civil case.

hi, i have just joined as i saw your photos.... i have a military issue seamaster 300 and the back is plain with the numbers engraved on it... i dont think they have the normal back markings.... mine doesnt have the " T " on the dial either... i have owned mine since 1973 so im pretty sure its genuine.

Hi all,
I am new to the forum. Just looking for some advice on military watches, I am a jewellery valuer and we get vintage watches in from time to time.
Our customer had this given to her by her uncle who was in the forces, that's all the provenance we know. I am a little nervous about this watch as I know they can command massive premiums.
Markings on the back:
0552/923 7697 A/658/70, with the arrow markings. Photo to follow. The engraving looks a little crude I am just wondering whether someone has just engraved this on the back to make it look like a military issue to raise the value? I was following a thread from last year which was discussing Christies write up of the non date SM 300 being only issued for military, I think the conclusion was reached that some were also made for civilian use. I am just concerned that this may be a civi watch which has just been engraved? Also the calibre number is 525? (I will check this with our watch maker), whereas 552 seems to be the calibre of this model.
any advice or help with replacement value greatly appreciated.

Jo

Hi, would you mind sharing the size of this watch? I like it a lot!

Thanks for your response Omegaman. I will do this later today and post a photo. Wondering how the value would be affected if for some reason the case has been changed or modified. Or did the military issue also have spring bars on occasion?

I totally agree!
Hi again, long time no speak. The crown on mine is definitely screw down and I was wondering why these particular Military Omegas have completely different markings from the others. In particular the caseback markings. All seem to be manufactured in 1969 and issued in 1970 yet Omega seem to be a little secretive about the issue. A small number of watches went to Mossad around that time and members of the intelligence service, so is that what we are looking at?
They are not WT stamped! Why not? Any suggestions?
