I'm gonna start updating my watch wishlist ...

"start updating"?!? You're already behind: the rest of us have already purchased 3-4 watches since leaving the restaurant. You can never start preparing early enough for next year.

So you met in a bomb shelter? 😉
When we were working out the contract details they were saying “private room”. Having eaten there many times, I thought they were just talking about the back space of the restaurant which is tucked back behind the open kitchen with mood lighting and comfy booths. But no, this was a nondescript door hidden away that even I (as a regular patron) didn’t know existed! Only three of the staff ever entered our room, so nobody knew what were were doing back there. This would have only been more secure if we had the attendees meet off site and load onto a white van with blindfolds, then scrambled all cell service. You had no clue where you were inside.

And JDubs was packin’ his two solid gold Desert Eagles too just in case.

Had to match that gold Speedmaster! Would need ruby grips though to tie it all together.

My wife is hooked now too. Something like JW's later devil diver Oceanographer (‘68-71). (Dibs)
And a note to all that are reading- this is why I encourage spousal engagement in this hobby. My wife knew going in to our relationship that I had ridiculous hobbies- but she loved my zeal for them and knew I would never put the household finances in jeopardy to fund them.
I asked her opinions on watches I would see on the internet, not just gauging her interested but figuring out what she truly likes. Of course I discovered that she likes JLC and PP (without her knowing what they were worth) which speaks to her stellar taste- but she also likes vintage lady sport watches and many modern men’s sport watches.
I brought her to dinner with 2 other members and spouse a few months ago and she felt apprehensive at first to meet strangers but felt incredibly welcomed and there were hugs and kisses by the end of the evening.
She insisted on putting together the swag bags, she was so excited that I was excited for this event and wanted to contribute.
Yesterday was a bit overwhelming for her- lots of volume, lots of excitement- but she engaged with the people around her and I even encouraged her to bring her watch collection. She was shy about sharing it- thinking nobody would want to see it, but she did share them with Niko’s wife- her Ernst Borel, her first 50’s Seamaster and her 2 c’69-70 ladies Seamasters (TV and round dial with integrated bracelets- love those watches- sexy as shit), her Airking (which apparently Niko had one at one time that his wife liked but he sold it- bad, bad Niko!)….maybe next year she will feel comfortable passing her collection around the table as they are all worthy of group admiration despite what she thinks.
If we include our partners in this hobby, including the social elements- they appreciate what we love about it and feel invested…the ultimate of win-win.

Agree with you @JwRosenthal : ANY collection is worthwhile… and I actually wished I had had the time to make it to the other side of the table… but our three hours went by WAY too quickly!

Your side of the table was tipping like the titanic going down- I don’t blame you for not being able to get away.

Had them custom made for the group. I’m brewing coffee for mine as I write this. 😀[/Q UOTE]

Since youse guys had the bouncer bar me from entrance to your little shindig I siphoned 5 gallons of gas outa one of the BMW's in the parking lot and peed on the door handle. I'm not hurt at all and you can keep your goofy cups as I'm gonna have me a hot cuppa joe from my buddy Eric's forum cup. Pffffft

Technically, you weren't barred, Fred. We were just hiding from you. It's a shame that the BMW that you peed on is owned by one of our members with ties to organized crime. You probably still have time to change your name and move to another state. Maybe. 😁

Several of us didn't even make it out the door before that happened! 😁

I loved it. Makes me want to get back into it since my shoulder can't handle riding any more. Hmmm, maybe another 944 like The Time teller!

Same with Diane. Ofc she loved that Blue Patek chronograph that came out last year. And at least she like Longines so I can get some affordable luxury on her wrist. Thanks for the encouragement assistance for sure.

Yeah, we didn't only bring our watches, but cars too. George's classic 1980 Mercedes was awesome!

Dammit, I didn’t know we were doing cars too! At some future even we will need to do cars, watches, cameras and hi-fi…it would have to be a week- end long event in a hotel with patio doors to the parking lot where every room has their watches, stereo’s and cars parked out front.

Would it be possible to list each attendee by their OF user name in that group photo? Would love to put a face to the names.

I think we decided the anonymity was preferred- we took off our name tags specifically. Plus, isn’t guessing more fun?!
