To speak to @Syrte ’s sensibility- I matched this strap against lume color which made it pop. With a black or brown strap, the dial colors were just there.
And it works

This strap came with the watch and suits it perfectly. I have a near identical, perhaps better quality strap on my Paul Peugeot.
Similar to an alligator pattern these are described as a Bamboo pattern.
While a very cheap band these are much nicer and more comfortable than you'd expect. It takes only a little work to give the band a set that conforms to the shape of the wrist.

Very nice! @Syrte

I have a couple of these «bund style» straps, but I have never
found a nos specimen. Would love too see the reverse side of the
strap👍
There you go. PS my friend has a couple more which have a 20mm lug for a watch head that’s around 30mm. I’m pretty sure 33mm would work.
This strap is supposed to be designed for an 18mm lug but it works fine on this watch whose lug is 16mm.

I like that your watch has its own carpet.

Matching the watch, the band AND the carpet is the real stuff. Syrte’s touch.

Is the nylon strap period correct? I have no idea, but would have guessed no. OP, nice watches 👍
Perlon straps are a 60s thing, although the base material, nylon, dates back to the late 30s.

don't fit well on the pocketwatch I'm afraid...

Thank you gentlemen for the kind appreciation 😀
The carpet is a mousepad- but it’s safer and a fun exotic touch for pictures of course.
It’s also much more interesting after having traveled to tge areas in Central Asia where those are made.

I thought I would resurrect this thread for an opinion. What strap would be good for this:

It came on a crusty worn out tan strap. The chocolate was what I had laying around. I was thinking of something like this:

In my opinion, it wouldn't be suede, if you want to be period correct. That were mine to choose, I would put on a unpadded, shiny alligator/crocodile. Unpadded calf would be good too. Stitched for sure. Black is my choice.

Agree with period correct. But sometimes it’s fun to play with vintage pieces to liven them up. Like a pair of tan suede brogues with a grey flannel suit as opposed to a plain black Oxford.

Conditionally, reluctantly... you didn't say Allen Edmonds, so my trust is not 100%.

Since you brought up period correct, I thought you and others here might be interested to see the strap that came on the watch. I doubt it is original, but it is clearly quite old.

That is probably 40’s. I am always looking for people who can make that exact style strap...not many out there. They come close- but not exact.
