UK VAT for vintage watches bought from EU/Switzerland?

Hi all,

I am interested in a couple of watches from dealers within the EU and Switzerland.

I am based in the UK; do you know if I'll have to pay the 20% VAT on those watches and customs taxes?

Thanks in advance!

Not if they are shipped from within the EU at the moment. Things will probably change next year after a no deal brexit.

I think there is import tax for watches shipped from Switzerland.

My first purchase (from Chrono24 in 2018) was a SMDV from a seller in Switzerland. He very kindly crossed the border into Italy to ship from there so I wouldn't get charged.

As @dennisthemenace says, EU fine for a few more months.

I’ve dealt with a couple of dealers in Switzerland, all of whom have offered to send the watch from within the EU.
