Is there no click spring on the PR516 dive watch? Should the bezel spin and if so is it just in one direction?

No spring, the bezel it self flexes around the case!
Turns both directions.

I wish I had a watch that needed one of these. Great craftsmanship, well done Sir.

Made a new batch of inserts!😀

New method of heatpressing => not so much waste but still ~50%
After pressing a "blank" - the dimensions are milled.

Inserts then painted/filled with lume.

Hello Dear MCGyver, did you make always those bezels? I have an PR 516 chronograph 40528-2X (with the Lemania 873 inside) with the bezel damaged at 30’. The case is a 36mm, did you know if it’s the same as the 3 hands model?
It’s for make a gift for my wife. Best regards

Hi,
I'm sorry, but this insert (Tachy-scale) is tricky to make.
It needs to be pad printed on the back in both black and white and right now I do not have the equipment set up to do this.
I might in the future, but have no time span when it could be done (or even if I can do it) - sorry!
For the case, I do not know, but doubt its the same as the 36mm diver. There are two types of divers and the case is not the same even between them! 😀
Best regards
Roger

Hello Roger, it’s the other type bezel (10-20-30-40-50- broad, like yours) I have. I’ don’t know if it’s a original configuration (I’ve seen 2 others watches on the net whose one on EBay), I seem it’s original, my wife preferred this variation. If you would, I will send you the case and bezel for work, it will be more practical. The movement need to be serviced, I am watchmaker so it’s not a problem for me 😉

@Caneltime, -That's an insert for a diver, you should have one with a black and white tachy/pulsations scale!

Latest bezel build

Got this worn Seastar at an auction a while ago.
pr516chrono1j-jpg.2260620

I was a real mess, with gue and some interesting crown/pusher solutions!

pr516chrono2j-jpg.2260622

I think I'm going to change the gasket on this one!

After some mild violence I got the bezel of and started the procedure of making a new one.

Aluminium set up in the lathe and turned to dimensions.

pr516chrono3j-jpg.2260623

The bezel has a small 60deg groove on the inside to snap to the case and a 0.7mm slot on the outside - I asume as something to grab to make replacement easier!?

Small batch ready for further treatment.

pr516chrono5j-jpg.2260625

After cleaning, etching they got a dip in my acid bath.

pr516chrono6j-jpg.2260628

Afther that, time for color dip and then sealing in boiling water.

Here is a bezel dyed and ready to be engraved.

pr516chrono7j-jpg.2260631

After laser engraving, the result.

pr516chrono8j-jpg.2260632

Now time to weld and fix the case..............but that will have to be done another day!

The engraved bezel lacked some contrast in certain angles => stripped them and then reanodized and colored again.

Engraving this time deeper and the fonts a bit thinner - engarving filled with chrome paint for better contrast - I think its much better!

This is really amazing work. Makes me look at older and rougher watches a bit different.

Sure - PM me!

[It's been so long scince I sold my Seamaster f300 - are the numbers/indexes white or silver/grey on the insert-guessing white?]
