Magnetization Question about 1861 Movement

I am in the market for my first Speedmaster and I had been eyeing the black and gold Tokyo Olympics version (ref 522.20.42.30.01.001). My worry is that because I work in IT and am around laptops, phones, servers, etc all day every day that the 1861 movement in that watch will get magnetized constantly and become too much of a pain to wear that it won't be useful as a daily driver. From everything I have googled / looked up on the forums here it seems that it is pretty easy to accidentally magnetize a watch, and while it is also easy to fix, it would be fairly annoying if I had to do it weekly or more often. Am I being overly worried? Or is it really that easy to magnetize and I should get the new Speedmaster with the 3861 movement certified by METAS? I love the look of the black and gold but not enough to spend $7-8k and keep it saved for special occasions.

I got my first "vintage" watch new in 1970. At the time I was dropping decks of cards into the college's IBM 1620. From 1973 until about 10 years ago I was fully employed in IT, very much involved with the hardware. Never had a problem with magnetisation. Nor with airport scanners despite the stories, or even with the London Undergound about which the 1970s rumours were dire: corrupt your tapes, discs and stop your watches. I have also used used the NYC Subway, the Boston "T" and the Paris Metro wearing that same Heuer without seeing any problem.

Don't Worry, Be Happy.

Well, when I saw the post say "magnetization question about 1861 movement" I thought we were going to be dealing with a vintage movement that likely had a steel balance and had suffered the effects of magnetism. Since yours is a modern watch and not 160 years old, you'll be fine near electronics.

I’ve got a speedy pro from 1976 with the 861 movement.

zero issues being around computers.

I’d not lay it down on a magnetic clasp, or on speakers. But I’ve not had a single problem.

Thank you all for your input, I feel much better about going for the non-metas movement than I did yesterday.
