Scratches buff out of Ti with refinishing pads so no extreme risk-taking necessary. The look on the waitress's face when you ask to be moved for the uber-nerdy reason your watch might get scratched, that's another story.

 

Wonderfully funny post since it's so true to reality. I often thought about doing this to my entire house and work to protect my wrist babies.

 

I seriously have changed the way I walk. When I leave my office to turn left into the tight hallway, instead of turning counter clockwise 90 degrees, putting my left wrist in close proximity to the metal door jamb, I pirouette clockwise 270 degrees to the right. NOT TODAY DOOR, NOT TODAY

The wife clanked the metal seatbelt buckle off my hesalite while we were boarding TestTrack at Disney last month. She thought I was upset about the watch but I was more annoyed that she almost chipped my wrist bone Speedmaster for the save!

 

This is funny because I was at Disney yesterday and opted to NOT wear the Speedy.
There were a couple times yesterday where I thought to myself "....dang, glad I didn't have the Speedy on!"

 

But how many times did you think to yourself... "damn, I wish I had my speedy on"

 

...touche lol.

 

Well, this is the perfect time and to tell my sad, sad story...
On December 7th, while I was changing at my gym's locker room, I dropped my jacket with my Railmaster LE in the pocket. I didn't think much until I reached in and felt shards of glass....My crystal SHATTERED!!! Unfortunately, the watch landed right on the domed crystal and the even though the floor wasn't tile, it was just enough force to break it. My heart sank and in a couple hours I was handing it to my rep at my local OB from where I purchased the watch originally. Because I also scratched the dial, a full $ervice is required since a dial replacement is offered as an à la carte repair....bummer. I tried to talk myself into being comfortable with keeping the new "character" on the dial, but I knew that it would bug me every time I looked at the watch. Also, it's a really downer that I'll be without my favorite watch until some time in March.
The small piece of good news is that I'll have the spare dial and handset to experiment with or possibly sell. (I wonder if the hands would fit the previous generation Railmaster 2503?)
So here's the lesson: sapphire crystal are very scratch proof, but not at all crack proof.

 

Wow that really sucks, sorry for your loss. Well one thing is for sure - NASA were justified in not wanting to have Sapphire crystals on their astronaut's Speedys!

 

Sorry to hear DIV; have seen all your posts on the Trilogy forum since you picked it up and I know how much you love that watch. Fixable and could be worse but frustrating nonetheless.
