Not sure if a pocket watch qualifies me for full membership, but I'll take a junior level for now.

I absolutely lust after the CK859, and the Longines Heritage Classic, heck even the Baltic HMS 002, are gorgeous watches. Realistically, though, no analog watch is likely to displace the Apple Watch from my wrist. But I recently located my grandfather's Bulova pocket watch. It's now cleaned, serviced, and hangs on a small stand as my desk clock. Winding it every day has become a nice morning ritual. It also made me realize that I didn't have to completely forsake the beauty of analog watches.

I found this Omega at an auction and surprised myself by winning it. It's in nearly mint condition with only the hints of a few scratches on the case back. Since it's in such great shape cosmetically, I decided to take a chance and wind it before having a watchmaker check it out. It appears to keep perfect time. Eventually I'll work up the courage to take off the case back and read the movement and case serial numbers, but for now I'm just admiring the quality and craftsmanship.

Your Omega pocket watch has been around for likely 75 to 80 years. It will be around still if Armageddon happens. It
will outlive “gimmick” watches which are sure to render even the Apple Watch obsolete. The novelty will not wear off with your Omega. It is a keeper! At your next grand soirée, be distinctive and shelve the Apple, and wear the Omega. It will be noticed!

i love jacket watches like this one. as pocket watches decayed, these were out of fashion and some amazing time capsules show up for reasonable prices. i can t wear it so i keep it, sort of reasoning. and the art deco spirit in its lines and the flat overall design is something i just find gorgeous.
