·I had never given much thought to a watch having lume on the hands but none on the indices until I started browsing this forum. Now I have questions. I have an early 60's Seamaster that I've recently learned is called a "pre-deville deville" in that it predates the printing of deville on the dial. I purchased this from a long time friend who inherited it, along with several other watches from his uncle, who was the original purchaser of the watch. The watch is pretty original as far as either of us know, and it sat unused for many years, as even at the time of his uncle's death it was one of his older watches. The watch has lumed hands, and that's it. No other lume is present. Another oddity is that there are small blemishes on the dial besides the 3/6/9 and 12. I had always wondered what caused these "stains", and now I am wondering if these could be related to lume pips that were once there. If the hands were added at a later date, it would have been 40+ years ago. Again, this watch sat for a very long time. Any input? What could have caused the blemishes in exactly the 3/6/9/12 positions? Are the hands og?
Forgive the bad photos. I'm trying to show all 4 blemishes. A couple are worse then the others.
