Love your opinion on this Geneva

I don’t normally take umbrage, particularly with new posters/new collectors, but I make an exception for you.

You have made 25 posts in short order, asking for information but reluctant to provide any yourself.

You go all coy on the price and when @cristos71 (an established member with many years experience) offers you his expertise, you become disputatious.

None of us have any idea, or real interest in what you paid for this late model entry level Geneve (not Geneva) but bearing in mind your posting describes the watch as gold plated, we are entitled to put a few questions to you as fellow collectors, whose experience and expertise you’re seeking to use.

You originally asked, “What do you think?", so, given the above, value is relevant. It’s a nice enough looking watch for an entry level 1012 automatic Geneve. If you paid £200 you’ve done well. If you paid £500, you’ve paid twice what it’s worth.

So, there you are. That’s what I think.

Hi Spruce, Thanx for your input.
It might be my English that you find difficult to understand, as i am from Israel.
I was in no way or at least didn't not mean to be disputatious (had to look it up), but yes i did not agree and even thought i might be a new member were i am from, an opinion is not considered disputatious or even rude but part of a dialog.
I actually think it strange you think that there is no place for different ideas even thought it was my thread in the first place.
"umbrage" (nice one, had to look that one up to- dissatisfaction, disapproval, or annoyance), NOT VERY NICE.
consider this- I didn't ask for help but an opinion and sorry but an "established member" means nothing to me if a polite two way conversation cant be had.

Again it wasn't the price i was asking opinions on, as it is in my mind completely irreverent, you might disagree
and that is fine. No disputations here.
I truly believe there is a big difference between a good find and a goods deal and i'm truly not interested
in the price, a nice find is a nice find- I don't see $$$ signs when looking at my collection, only watches.

Maybe but I don't consider all good finds "good deals".

No me neither, but I think for most here the watch you posted would have to be a good deal to be considered a good find as it is neither a seldom seen model nor one that is highly collectible ( I say this without wanting to sound discourteous ).

Thanx for the input. I did probably overpay, paying 650$ but I liked it and it's condition so I guess for me it was a good find. Most would probably say it's only worth 300$ but I personally couldn't find one.

You probably did overpay, but it looks to be in nice condition; you like it, you’ll enjoy wearing it, and as far as 99.99% of the people we all mix with are concerned it’s an Omega Automatic and you can wear it with suit or with jeans and enjoy the cachet.

Thanks a lot guys. The reason I was reluctant to share the purchase price on this particular forum is for the fact that for some reason I end up feelling screwed instead of focusing on the watch itself.
Unlike the UK, Europe or the US, we don't have to many vintage watch stores or collectors for that matter so it is much more difficult to find a nice watch let alone a good deal. Personally I have never been able to find watches anywhere, for the prices some members throw at me.

Yes well something is worth a price to you - if it's a nice watch and you saw it in a shop you wouldn't be having this discussion because ( perhaps ) there would be no comparative watch or watches. So well wear with your new ( to you ) watch.

I would classify it as a very nice example of a reference that isn't terribly desirable to most Omega collectors.

As someone quite new to the world of used/vintage watches. I've definitely "overpaid" for a piece before. But if it's something you will treasure and keep for many years, what you first paid for it will matter less and less. At least you got a good example.

And who knows what will be desirable in the future. As far as I've seen everything vintage omega has gone up in value from 5-10 years ago.

I agree completely. This reminds me of a dirty old Hamilton Drake I found in an antique store. The Hamilton Drake is a small 1930s era tank watch. A nice gold plated one runs like $150. Maybe. And the one I got was not a nice one -- Dial was dirty, crystal cracked, etc. But something about it -- possibly the inscription from father to son on the back from Christmas 1935 -- spoke to me. I got the watch for around $20, and I ended up spending $400 to have the thing serviced, the dial cleaned (but not refinished), and the crystal replaced. An economically borderline call, but I have enjoyed the watch and am happy to have "brought it back." And in 2035, if I am still around, it will be a nice thing to wear on Christmas.

While finding omegas from the 70's in a good condition is not rare..
In most cases you get a lot of watch for what you are paying. Not knowing what you gave for this, I would say it certainly looks to be in good visual condition. Ticking all the boxes for a cool Omega from the 70's. -Pillow shaped with integrated bracelet. Cant help but love them😀
