Lovely dial and in great shape with all lume dots👍
The 1002 is a great reference if you don't care about 34 mm.

Proof that there are gold nuggets to be had on eBay if you're armed with sufficient knowledge and experience to know when you've found one.

It has arrived. And it’s incredible.

Wow! ::psy::

(Was there some thread about being bored with watch collecting? 😒 Huh? 😵‍💫
@kov : If your eyes ever got you in trouble even one time and you bought some watch you fell in love with, well, my friend, it can happen again. It will happen again.

It happened to me. Again. 😗

Note to self: need a Jubilee bracelet. Although, this band does contrast nicely...

::rimshot::
Great photos! Congrats, the dial looks amazing.

All the sports watch hype, with people collecting dozens of submariners or gmts.

But the date and datejusts is where you can collect dozens and each one of them has a different dial. Hoping to meet someone who's a datejust collector with all the kind of dial variations.
One of the watches I have my eye is a datejust 41mm. Seem more interesting dial than the OP 39mm.

Like you I’m a big fan of midsize Rolex and while there are much, much bigger collectors out there I have quite a few posted on my Instagram that I think you will enjoy. I’ve PM’d you my IG info.

I brought her in to my watchmaker yesterday morning and whined to him about being without it while he serviced it. (He a crusty old guy, but he tolerates me.)

Today, he called me that it was ready, as it had only needed cleaning and lubrication. Of course, I rushed over.

So, a couple of final photos.

It has displaced all my other watches for the moment.

Thank you all for the kind words. The hunt is worthwhile, I say.

Calling the 34mm to 36mm Rolexes "midsize" is fighting words. Take it back!

😜 Would you define midsize as 30-34?

I respectfully decline to answer the question as my answer may incriminate me.

Nice watch. The 36mm and 34mm DJ and OP exude classiness

I cannot wait for my OP36 116000 to arrive back to me. I bought it last month but the other day it developed the normal Rolex 31xx movement issue, the worn rotor axle. it is at my local jewelry store getting a new rotor axle and a service(clean/oil/ adjust). This store is the local Omega, Grand Seiko, Seiko, Longines, Nomo and other brand AD. They have a watchmaker that services the watches. He is a retired Rolex tech. After Rolex RSC screwed up my sub (It had to go back 3 times before it was fixed correctly) back in the early 2000's I refuse to bother with them. Plus the watch is being done by a store i have done business with and they are local so any issue means a few minute drive and not a 2 day ship to TX or NY and waiting weeks for it back.

Rolex seems to have an issue with the rotor axle wearing out and in a normal service they replace the axle even if it looks good.
my OP is between 5 years old and 8 years old and looked almost new when i got it. I was planning on getting it serviced and having the axle replaced so I knew all is done but wanted to wait a few months and enjoy wearing it. I get to have it serviced sooner it seems.

It’s now on an old Jubilee, which I think I like better than the leather band.

Lovely example. The 1002 is an underrated model. Here's mine but in anthracite:
