Every now and then, I find some watch that sweeps me downstream on first sight. Fortunately, these incidents are few and far between. I’m not a fan of watches that grab me by the neck and demand I purchase them, because, well, what choice do I have?

This is the latest one to assault my eyes.

Shantung linen dial, 1972

I’ll post photos of it once I have it in hand.

what choice do I have?

I tell my wife that all the time. Some watches HAVE to be gotten. Good snag you got there! I am a big fan of the no date oysters and have my sights on one a couple towns over. I also have no choice. 😁

Gorgeous watch. 35mm is usually the smallest I'd buy, but if a blue shantung dial like the OP's ever crossed my path, I'd have to make an exception. Congratulations!

I have another 1002, so I felt comfortable with a 34mm.

And I had thought I’d never find a nicer dial on a 1002 than this sigma dial.

It has arrived. And it’s incredible.

Wow! ::psy::

(Was there some thread about being bored with watch collecting? 😒 Huh? 😵‍💫
@kov : If your eyes ever got you in trouble even one time and you bought some watch you fell in love with, well, my friend, it can happen again. It will happen again.

It happened to me. Again. 😗

Note to self: need a Jubilee bracelet. Although, this band does contrast nicely...

An oyster would look good too but yes I agree with that kind of snazz going on you need a jubilee!

Oh and that inscription makes that watch all the more special. Gives it a great tangible history.

Good for me this is only 34mm, otherwise I would have started looking for one of those 😁

All the sports watch hype, with people collecting dozens of submariners or gmts.

But the date and datejusts is where you can collect dozens and each one of them has a different dial. Hoping to meet someone who's a datejust collector with all the kind of dial variations.
