...in humanity.

We have this individual who is either completely stupid or a troll.

I have also been watching this TV show on Paramount+ called "Bar Rescue".

I swear sometimes it is only a few steps away from anarchy and being randomly cruel because you can be, and screw everyone else.

How do people live with themselves?!

I really try to avoid being upset and angry but tonight it's been really hard.

Sorry.

You don't need to apologize. We've all been there - quite a few of us on the forum are probably there now in one way or another. And this is a great place to vent and let off some steam. That's what friends let people do, without judgment.

Sorry you have to see the ugly side of the human race. As Alice Roosevelt Longworth supposedly said, "If you don't have anything nice to say about anyone ... come sit here by me."

Calling Paramount+ and a watch forum "Humanity" might be a stretch?

I read things in the Washington Post every day that bothers me, I am a single old man, an introvert with few friends, some of you (but not you, yet?) are friends of a sort... better than nothing...

Most of you are mostly kind. I appreciate that.

We have this individual who is either too stupid to breathe or a troll.

How the fυck do people live with themselves?!

For Christ's sake, get a grip on reality and not get sucked in by some stupid reality tv show. Until a couple of hundred years ago humanity was mired in crushing poverty. We are infinitely better off now because of technological advances in providing avenues to enable BILLIONS of people to rise out of poverty. That's the important story, not some stupid, asinine reality tv show. Wake up, and don't let a bunch of Hollywood elites sell you on nonsense.

Have you been drinking tonight? Not trying to judge just find myself in similar ruts when I’ve thrown back a few too many 😀

I missed the original post on the thread you mention so I didn’t get to see all the best parts but you were a little more disgruntled than usual so either the original post was wild or you’re in a particular bad state tonight. For me, that usually means I’ve had a little too much scotch or a few too many beers 😗

Sorry you are in the dark place but thankful that you reached out to share.

Wierd thing is I am in DC with my brother on a short trip.
In spite of all the negative politics you can't help feeling inspired here. We walked to the White House, spoke to a couple of Secret Service guards who were freezing, thanked them for their service and then we headed to a bar.

Point is that humanity does suck. But it's also beautiful. And a gift.

Perhaps a walk in the woods, throw a stick to a dog, watch some children play. Look away from the ugly.

I agree with @pdxleaf ... unplug for a while and check out the good stuff... there is lots of it. Try some excercise / read a book like Sapiens.
I stopped commuting in June. I have done some stuff with a Homeless charity / used to bump into some desperate people early mornings.
All that mostly stopped in March 20 / they were off the streets for a long time and my timings changed. Anyway very random but I was in town this week and bumped into one of them 19 months on. He was still in a poor state but remembered my name and we had a good chat - he is a clever older guy - a vagrant who reads classical history. He is still using all the real bad stuff / his legs are in shocking state - we had a brief walk (well he hobbled) together. I have had more 'real' and honest interactions with him than many 'respectable' people I know. It was too early for him to manage any real food (11am :0) ... so I spotted him some cash which I am sure may not get put to best use. He knows he is screwed up and he wants to change - but only he can do that now and sadly with his health time is running out. I guess we all make choices and also there is a hell of a lot of luck to it all (life that is). Meeting and chatting to him has always added some value to me / I am pleased to know him and glad he is still around. Whoever I am with I will still give him the time of day. I hope he makes it. He does have accomodation now.

I like the sunset/sunrise thread ...different perspectives around the world.

Let's see some sunset/sunrise pics | Page 64 | Omega Forums

I only joined this group a year ago and have only recently been active but I’ve been struck a number of times how members go out of the way for each other. Not 100% positive by the way but the vast majority have experiences have been really positive. Congrats to all - OF is a really good microcosm of humanity 😀

Let me give you a tip based on my 55+ years of experience. When reading the Washington Post skip the A section, most of the Metro section and most of the Style section. Focus on the comics, and any sports articles that manage to creep into the lower corner of a page between all the giant stories about what is supposedly a football team. It's not even worth reading the page or two that serve as the Business section anymore.

Lots of good places to eat and drink in DC these days. And if you are over near the White House, walk a couple blocks southwest and look at the OAS buildings. They are fantastic pieces of architecture, but most of the ornate details can only be seen if you are on the nearby sidewalks. The main building blows away almost every other building in DC. They have some really nice grounds as well that used to serve as public parks, although accesses is prevented these days.

Don't watch 'reality' TV. Never watch reality TV.

If you must, you should keep in mind that all of the arguments, drama, insults etc on those shows are either scripted or heavily influenced by the producers, who also encourage that kind of behavior by providing ready access to alcohol on those sets while at the same time restricting access to food.

My subscription is online and I get a daily email of "The Post Most". So my stories are curated. At least some of them are good.

Today is a new day.

Sounds like a few of us are in the DC area, any interest in a 'redbar' type gtg? My watchmaker brought up the idea a few months ago but we haven't yet followed through.

Me too- whatever a redbar is, unless it’s one of those parties where you put your keys in a fishbowl- then I will use an alias.
