Loose movement in Omega Geneve

I have to say having a stash does come in handy from time to time 😗

Hi redpcar 😀
I've been lurking these forums for a few years and finally decided to sign up. Good to be here!

I'm actually having the exact same problem as OP with my Omega Seamaster 168.034. I'm missing the case back spring you've pictured. If I could get the dimensions from my watchmaker do you think you'd be willing to sell me couple of yours? I'd be more than happy to make it worth your while 😀

Shoot me a message if you'd be willing to help, thanks 😀

I would part with one.
I no longer have the biggest diameter. I've had 5 or 6 people ask me now. Smaller diameter works. Your watchmaker simply cuts it and it will naturally open up and be able to be squeezed into place.
Strange that it seems I'm the only guy in the world who has a stash.

It's super kind of Dave to offer one for someone who's in need, really wholesome, what a beautiful community

3D printing spacers, or just finding a thin paperclip and using it in place are some ideas - it's a bad temporary or permanent solution for a bad original design

Geneve models with Omega movements like yours are at least nice watches, if you happened to have bought one with a Tissot movement there are no case screws, there are no dial screws, they are all pushed in place with the caseback 😁

No No No Never use a paperclip.
Ask @dougiedude why…

Ahaha, I’m guessing it’d be on par with just yanking out the balance spring and using it as a spacer, if it holds form though didn’t seem that bad of an idea 😀

Hi there! New to the forum and having the exact same issue with an early 70's Geneve. Does anyone know where I can source this part from? Or alternatively, a DIY fix? Any help or pointers is much appreciated

<sigh> Seems like everyone opens these up, the wavy spring drops out and gets thrown away.

It seems so. I think mine went missing when I took it in for a service a few months back -.- do you reckon I could make something that could take the springs place out of acrylic or some other such material?

Just about any wavy spring can be used if installed by your watchmaker. I would contact them with your problem and ask if they can assist you to fix. If they don't have one (evidently not easy to find), PM me and I can mail you one that they can make work. Please remember that I don't have the correct Omega wavy spring, it's something that the watchmaker will have to fit. Not hard to do but not sure how friendly they are.
