Loose movement in Omega Geneve

Hello guys

I recently got a Omega Geneve from 1973 with a 1012 movment and a 35mm case. Its a really nice and beatiful watch but, when i wiggle the watch or shake the crown a little, the movement moves just a little bit. I was wondering if you knew what could cause this and if it could do harm to the watch? Thanks in advance.

Needs a few movement screws that hold the movement in. Easy fix for a watchmaker or yourself if the case back is off.

Can you take a picture straight on and some more pictures of the watch.

I whould not really be comfortable doing that myself, that's the only picture I have with the movement but, I can send you some more later.

The movement is secured to a movement ring which does not fit tightly within the case on these. It is secured by a combination of a flange on the case back that takes up the space between the case and the movement ring and a spring ring inside the case back.

Maybe the clamps used to secure the movement to the spacer ring aren't the right ones or they're not tightened it. I can see a clamp in the photo provided.

Do you have a photo of the inner case back ?

Also another thing, the rotor makes a metal scraping noise, its not terribly loud but its there. Is that normal for that movement or?

It kind of looks like your case back is missing the zig zag spring... Scraping as in metal rubbing against metal ? The oscillating wheel might be loose or something... Quite possible could be connected to the same issue of the movement not being tight inside the case.

A zigzag spring? Sounds correct. I had it taken to omega specialist today and he said the same about a spring. And yes, it's metal against metal scraping.

Since the movement does not sit fully correctly in the case and is a bit loose that means that sometimes the oscillating weight can rub up against the case back. I think I see sme faint rubbing marks on the case back but not sure. That is probably what is causing the sound. (no, it's not normal) Should get it checked out as, in time, it'll damage the case back and the oscillating weight.

I believe that in some cases they are friction fit so it might not be complicated to fix this. I had a watch once where this spring ring could fall of if I turned the case back around...

I've been trying to find information on these spring rings but this post was the only one refering to them. One of my geneve 136.041's spring doesn't sit tight in the caseback and falls on the movement when i unscrew it. Would anyone here know if this is normal? It is the only out of my 3 geneves having this issue Also i have noticed that the caseback is of a different supplier in comparison to the other two, maybe this has something to do with it.
Thank you in advance for any input😁
