Hi. I’m looking for help to authenticate this vintage seamaster that I am going to purchase. The seller provided pictures of the case back and movement upon request. Thank you for the help!

Welcome to the forum. It’s customary for new members, particularly those seeking help and advice, to introduce themselves in a preamble before seeking advice.

That said , the photos which I assume are the seller’s are very poor and I’d be hesitant about buying a watch relying on them to ascertain the condition of the watch.

The movement shots are equally poor and the movement looks dirty and unserviced in the dim lighting and on the basis of the very worn gasket, at the very least (depending on where you’re located) you should factor in a further £200 approx for a full service.

I stand to be corrected but I also think that the cyclops crystal is both aftermarket and horrible and should be replaced.

I haven’t commented on the dial or hands or case because of the photos.

You don’t mention the price but, on the basis of your photos, unless it’s extremely inexpensive, I’d keep looking.

The crystal appears to be an Omega product based on the logo. Most often, I see non-magnifier crystals on this reference, but I don't know that it's incorrect. It may be a legit option.

Overall, I agree that the poor photos make it difficult to judge condition.

As others have said, the photos are not particularly clear, which makes it hard to evaluate.

Still, to say something about the dial: the 'm' in 'Seamaster' looks exceptionally wonky to me and I'd ask for a better photo to reassure myself that this wasn't a re-dial in light of that.

The text looks off - some parts seems to be bolder than others and some letters are wonky. In these conditions, I would assume it’s a redial unless you can get your hands on better pictures that suggest otherwise.

Based on those photos I'd say it's a redial (super shiny sunburst finish and the text issues mentioned above).
Hard to tell, but the movement could do with a service.
