Looking for my "everyday" Omega Seamaster

I'm looking at joining the big leagues and getting an Omega Seamaster. I've been rocking a couple Citizen watches for a few years and wanting to upgrade. Here's my current Eco drive:

What I'm looking for is a watch that's timeless (as I plan on owning it for quite a while), and that will work with both dressy and casual wear.

One that has really caught my attention is the NTTD Seamaster (big Bond fan):

This watch is double the cost of the standard black or blue wave options that I've been looking at:

Has anyone had both? Is it worth the extra $$ and do you feel that it is as versatile as either?

Thanks in advance!

I really like the Bond NTTD watch, and I mean really like it (and I normally don't like Bond watch marketing)...but I think I would still go for the black or blue dial regular Seamaster (and that would be a very difficult choice for me). To me they seem more "everyday."

PS: Citizen Eco Drive is solid... I'm not usually a fan of quartz, but got my first Eco Drive about a year ago and it's amazing. Don't wear it often, it's dressy, but I love it.

The NTTD does nothing for me. I would get the Seamaster Pro, in blue. It's timeless.

I have the NTTD and absolutely love it. It works for both dressy and casual. But the blue or black work just as well for much less $

The more I stare at that photo of the blue, the more certain I would lean that way. It looks fantastic.

I wouldn't call it timeless though, that would mean it's a bad watch. ::rimshot::

Thanks for the reply! I’ve seen some reviews on the NTTD and the lume looks great. Is there a noticeable difference between the NTTD and regular Seamsters?

It's a very personal decision based on preference/style/lifestyle but here is my take: If you look for a versatile Seamaster that can do it all, I would recommend to have a look at the Aqua Terra collection. I think its design is wonderful and it will look as good in many years as it does today - plenty of options when it comes to dial colors (blue or black highly recommended though) - since you mentioned you are a Bond fan: It has a Bond connection as well and has been worn in Skyfall and Spectre in previous iterations - especially the one from Skyfall is beautiful and rather difficult to get these days I heard. The Aqua Terra is both dressy and sporty and really can do it all. I am highly biased but I think it is worth a look as it often stands a little bit in the shadow of its Seamaster siblings.

When it comes to the Diver 300M: It is an excellent choice for an everyday watch and it can be worn in almost any situations. I would recommend to try the bracelet and see if you like it. This watch is something that I always like when I see it on the wrists of others but on my own wrist it kind of refuses to look awesome - on the bracelet at least. I would go with the "regular" blue or black dial version as the vintage design choices of the "NTTD" are a little bit too much for my taste and prevent the watch from being timeless.

That's my opinion, good luck with your decision!

I have the NTTD and a white 300m on bracelet. I chose the white as I already have plenty of black divers. I love both watches and the NTTD has a range of features that I like, the lightweight titanium and the mesh bracelet which for me is super comfortable. I love the broad arrow, dark fautina and aluminium insert, which others hate. The white 300m is so much watch for the money, the ceramic dial and bezel insert are beautiful and the bracelet is actually far more comfortable than I thought it would be. The 8800/06 movements are super accurate. I would buy both again with hesitation. If I were looking for my first, I'd look at either the black or blue 300m on bracelet.

I prefer the NTTD to the standard seamaster but if you are genuinely considering it, I’d recommend trying it on, there is no micro adjustment on the strap so if you fall between the bracelet holes in terms of sizing it can be pretty uncomfortable.

for an everyday, I’d go with the standard black, it’s the least jazzy of all the line up.

I wear "Big Black" 24/7 as the watch is truly remarkable in terms of looks and function. I chose black because it fits just about every situation from casual to formal.

Agree with this 100%

The faux patina and milanese bracelet on the bond watch don't seem as classic and timeless as a blue dial and normal Omega bracelet to me.

But that's just me 😀

Go for the Black Seamaster it looks good on the bracelet and it looks even better on the black rubber strap. It also can sort of work on formal occasions and its timeless for me it falls under the forever watch category. The blue comes next followed by the NTTD.

by the way great Citizen you have there, believe it or not but I find citizen are better at doing bracelets than Omega lol.

NTTD looks awesome if you want to make a major upgrade from the eco-drive. But, it's hard not to think about getting 2-3 nice watches for that kind of money.

I was recently trying 3 different Seamaster models, the standard blue one, the NTTD and the Necton edition.
And to be honest in person the Necton edition was in my opinion the one that impressed me the most 👍
The NTTD was the one that i didnt like at all.
I would strongly advice trying them on.
But that would be my choice:

+1 for the Nekton. Went hands-on with it recently and was impressed. NTTD has more interesting things going on in terms of materials, IMO, but at a hard-to-swallow price premium. Love the red on Nekton, and the laser-ablated bezel is sick.

I’d get the classic blue or the NTTD, but yea the current gen Seamaster Pro 300M is such a great watch that I recommend it even over its larger Planet Ocean brother all of the time. They’ve been making this family for almost 30 years and with each generation they’ve made small incremental improvement addressing the few minor owner criticisms but this was a very good watch even as the 2531.80 in 1993 and the evolved ceramic version of today with Calibre 8000 series movement is the new best.

I agree about the Aqua Terra from a versatility standpoint. I have the Skyfall AT 41.5 and absolutely love it. I thought I was going to sell it because a JLC caught my eye. Even posted it on WUS but decided not to. Even though the JLC is twice the price it’s not twice the watch IMO. The AT is an amazingly versatile watch... and gorgeous. Goes will with a suit or jeans and a T.

If I were starting out new, I would be looking at Aqua Terra, and the older ones without the grooved dials. I happen to be blessed with a dozen amazing Omega watches, though, which I do not want to get rid of. 😀
