I’m hoping someone can provide some information regarding this watch.

It was one of the few things that was left to me when my grandfather passed away and I have no information apart from the paperwork that comes with it.

I believe it may be a rare piece and served time in the British Royal Navy. Any information would be welcome.

Definitely purchased and owned by a bloke in the Royal Navy.
Probably bought while on a shore run when his ship was berthed at Sembawang Naval Base.
I wish I knew the date, it's possible we visited the same shop at the time.

Wonder if he visited Bugis Street later that night 😁.

That’s a nice heirloom, caliber 286 I believe, manufactured from about 1964.

Nice original and rare dial. Seems to have the wrong second hand.

Although these weren't military issued, I've heard anecdotally that they were special order for the PX in the far east in the 60's. I keep a track of these dials when I see them and of 16 examples I've seen over the years, 10 had an engraving on the caseback which seemed to look like some kind of personnel no. and name. Of the 6 that didn't have an engraving, the caseback was very polished on two, possibly to remove an engraving.

I don't have any evidence to back this up, just my observations and speculation.

Dan S is right, certainly not an issued military watch but a watch purchased privately by a serving seaman. I used to have an almost identical watch that I bought from the original owner, who also purchased it in Singapore.
