It's an awesome watch - you won't hear an argument from me otherwise, but I've owned two of them in the past and each time had no problem letting it go.

same, sold my skx007 and skx013 recently

Well, that was a fun exercise!!!

I ended up picking up two watches for well under the top-end of my budget:

Tissot Seastar Navigator

And... I caved after finding a scorching local deal on a LNIB Japan-market SKX007 with a sweet aftermarket jubilee strap:

The only downside is the Tissot is going to require a full service that will put me over my cash-in/cash-out limit, so it's time to kill another one of my darlings 馃

Thanks to everyone for putting forward their recommendations. I've added a bunch of new watches to my WTB list!

Do you like Seiko?
During my search last night, I came across the new, modern interpretation of Seiko's MAS diver:

I'm adding this one to the list.

Anyone know the reference of this one ?

SPB053

MAS reissue just over 1k USD and limited I believe.

I don't think they're limited like the official MAS reissue SL017 which was only 2000 pieces. Worn and Wound did a good write up of the three models a bit back:

Either way really like the SPB051/053 even with the different hands. And like all Seikos they will look better in person as they case finishing is hard to capture in pics.

Could go with a Sinn U1 maybe if you like the look. I have the U1 professional but usually pick one of my turtles over it. So not sure how long the sinn will stay.

Sooo many options here! I agree with an SKX 007 or 009, but I've been seeing the Halios Seaforth around a lot lately, and it looks fantastic (albeit a bit pricey for a beater diver).

That actually is pretty awesome. How does is wear at 44mm?
I second that! Love mine, and easily within your budget. The blue dial looks amazing in the sun.

This is exactly what I was going to recommend

Nice little Seiko that is not an SKX. I own one and it grows on me every time I wear it.
