Looking for guidance

Hey all I recently purchased this Omega speedmaster "Ed White" 105.003-64 for a great deal. I am not greatly familiar with Omega Watches this being my first speedmaster. I purchased this watch as is with no records taking a gamble which ultimately ended up paying off as the watch is correct besides the bracelet. I took the watch and had it opened to find that the watch obviously needs servicing. This is where I started to learn about how if you send it to Omega they will ultimately replace parts with or without your say so if they deem it so. This being the case and me not knowing a lot about vintage watches in general I considered selling it because I do not think I am the right person to make the call on what to do with the watch. Since buying the watch I have fallen in love with the Speedmaster and If I do sell the it I would replace it with a newer speedmaster. I have since gotten an offer for 6500 which I think is low from the research I have done but I really do not know. Any input or advice is appreciated and to sum up my post Ultimately I am wondering what someone would put the condition of this watch as and if that offer is fair or not.

Not common to see a EW on a 1450...😝
I guess the 808 have been shaved?...

Anyway, this is a fantastic watch. Don't let it go... Or I PM you right now...😁
Your offer is obviously too low. The truth is probably > 9k€ 🤨

In the current market, an Ed White in this condition, without correct bracelet and unserviced isn’t a €9k watch imo. Prices have softened. I’d say it’s between €6.5 and 9k

You're right, the market is lower. But don't forget the 1450... 😜

I would keep it and get it serviced by a qualified independent watchmaker with an Omega parts account. If you tell us where you’re located, chances are good that we can recommend a watchmaker for you who can properly service the watch and preserve its vintage character.

I would keep a 1960s Speedmaster over today's modern ( too expensive ) crap & bling !
Too expensive, yes. Crap and bling? 😲:whipped:

Agreed. The 3861 and “new” 321 Speedmasters are expensive, but not blingy. If you want bling, that’s the new Seamaster diver with the laser engraved wave dial.

Personally, I find it appealing and would be happy to own it at the right price. But I think the moldy lume and the rough bezel will hold the price back. I don't know what currency the OP is referring to, so it's hard to say if "6500" is a fair offer. If it's GBP, it's not a bad offer, IMO. If it's USD or euros, it might be a little low, but not crazy. Probably worth a negotiation.

Offer was in USD and I agree if it was GBP from what I can see that would be fair.

Do the Florida/Georgia/Louisiana guys have recommendations for a watchmaker?

Im confused when you say the 808 is shaved. The 808 is on there from what I can tell but I am a noob when it comes to these.

808 Endlinks are 20mm. Your watch has 19mm lugs so the end links must have been reduced or shaved slightly in width

I can see where this would be daunting for someone new to Speedies. One of the great things about this forum is being able to gather solid info\advice from members and make an informed decision. Good look to the OP with your decision. You've come to the right place to learn from others.
