Looking for a UK watchmaker

Hello all,

Apologies if there's already a thread for this, but I was looking for recommendations for a UK watchmaker to do a service and possible repair on my 1950s Seamaster. It's a bumper (cal 355) and the power reserve went from limited to non-existent, and now it keeps stopping even after a manual wind. It doesn't matter where he or she is in the UK as I'd be posting it. Someone with access to Omega parts and a conservative attitude to what's already there would be a big bonus. Any recommendations would be very welcome.

Thanks very much.

@ChrisN of this parish comes highly recommended. There are countless others who do a good job too but maybe start there. From memory, he is in fact in your part of the world too or at least only one county over.

There is a chap in South Yorkshire I have used, he seems to get lots of appreciation. Obviously others have shared some contacts. If you want this chaps details let me know and I will pass them on

If you're thinking of JS then I think he's retired?

I hear good things about Simon Freese though

Ah, ignore that then!

"Hello caller, you're through to Omega FM."
"Hi, I'm Ben in Rotherham and I have a cal. 265 on the bench in front of me"

Thank you very much to you all for your very helpful replies. That's a great list, and I'll get in touch with one of them.
It's always a bit of a hassle getting a watch serviced, but to be honest I'm quite looking forward to seeing all the pictures that come with it!
I've read that bumper movements need servicing a bit more often than later ones, but this should hopefully see me right for a few years.

Ever been to Rovram? He'll struggle to fight his way past the Spice Heads and Grooming gangs to get to his premises! 😉

Ha, I live in Sheffield so yes many times. Luckily he is not based in Rotherham Centre as that has definitely taken a nose dive...

I’d go a long way to find a good watchmaker but these last few years in Dorset have made me go soft. We even think Weymouth is a bit rough!

Simon Freese is based at Westcliff near Southend - highly recommended by many OF members.

As already recommended Simon Freese in Essex, Swiss Time Services (also in Essex), Watchguy, who is quite close to you in Gloucestershire and littlecogs.co.uk in MIdhurst. These are all people that I or a friend has used in the past.

STS were really expensive when I got a quote recently.

My Zenith Sporto is with Michael Swift up in Scotland at the moment. He came well recommended and is well priced. I’ll share a personal view when I get it back.
