Looking for a Specific Watch

Hello all, I am wondering if you can give me some tips for finding a specific watch. My husband is retiring from the military in a few months and I would like to get him a Seamaster Diver 300m with a blue face that has the little waves. The tricky part is that ideally I could find one made in the year when we had our son because I know this would make a very nice gift even more sentimental.

The problem is that I am not super knowledgeable, and the only ones I can find that meet this criteria are on chrono24 and located overseas. The tariffs are crushing my budget to make this happen. Is there anywhere else I should look? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

The years can be gotten into the ballpark with th serial number but honestly it’s probably going to be more downside than it’s worth and better to just get the best example you can get within the US and have it engraved or something else to make it special.

I agree with dsio, looking for a specific year, while technically possible, seriously complicates your search. I would focus on price and condition and not worry about the year. If it's the watch I posted above you're looking for, it was made from 1993 to 2006. Sticking to one year really limits your search. Also, Omega does not disclose when a watch was made. The best you're going to get is a ballpark estimate from the serial number and a date on the warranty card (if it has one--and for many watches of this era those cards are lost to time). But that shows when it was sold, not when it was made. And some of these watches sat around for a year or two (or more) before being sold.

Also, the 39% tariff will likely be dropping to 15% within a week or so. Just google search "Swiss tariffs" for news.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the input and helping me not chase something that isn’t really feasible.

If you find something you like, feel free to stop back for advice as to whether it's a good one to choose.

As stated, you'd realistically be limited to watches with their warranty cards, so you at least know when they were bought.

It is a good idea! Watches are great gifts.
